He would be from the line of David
central prophecies
Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a child is born, to us a son is

Many scholars will disagree about this prophecy as there
are two words that could potentially be used:
He would be born of a virgin
Controversy - does the word virgin in this passage
actuallymean"virgin"or"young maiden"?
Alma - to be strong, full of vigor, or arrived at the age
of purity
Bethulah - a maiden living in seclusion in her parents'
house and still a long way from matrimony

Bathsheba - 2 Samuel 11:1-27

Mary - Matthew 1:18-25, Luke 1:26-56
Being pregnant outside of wedlock was an extreme sin in
the eyes of the Jewish elite at this time. This would be one
of the most shameful ways for the Messiah to be born in
their eyes.

The Census of Luke 1 is often argued as having never
happened because the historian Josephus put Quirinius as
governor in 6 AD, but recent discoveries found documents
placing Quirinius as governor in 7 BC as well.

Keil & Delitzch, big time hebrew scholars, died in the 1920's but their work is
still among the most respected today, found there is no reliable evidence to state
that the defnitions are separate somehow and one means virgin and the other
young maiden, but that the terms are typically defned as woman and virgin is only
attached when the context makes sense.

Matthew 2, the wise men were priests and astrologers who would have studied
the stars. They would have noticed something most people wouldn't have, which
is why there aren't countless accounts of this star being a great guide, but the
wise men were able to discern that the star was in the general Galilean area and
there went to Herod to ask if he knew where the king was born. This frightened
Herod so much that he called the teachers of the law who knew where Christ
was to be born. Upon hearing this the wise men left and saw the star and this
time it led them to Christ, which probably wasn't the manger, but their actual
home where they presented their gifts. They were warned by a dream that they
shouldn't return to Herod and snuck back to their own country. Now when Herod
fgured out they weren't coming back, he was able to determine from the time
the wise men said they saw the star and initially left their country and the time
that they saw him last, that the child couldn't be any more than 2 years old, and
for fear of losing his crown, he had all of the children 2 years and younger killed.
