La Recherche Médicale : Le Vrai et le Faux !
L’expression « Recherche
Médicale » est une expression
pleine d’ambiguïté dans la mesure
où elle combine de nombreuses
activités, depuis la recherche
biologique et génétique la plus fine
jusqu’aux approches
épidémiologiques en passant par la
recherche pharmacologique et
thérapeutique, sans parler de la
recherche en psychologie, .... Ce
vaste champ d’étude repose sur un
certain nombre de dogmes
progressivement mis en doute par
le progrès général des
connaissances. De plus ce secteur
de la recherche est soumis aux
« appétits » divers de ceux qui se
partagent les retombées
économiques considérables des
systèmes de santé. Pour être
honnête, on doit souligner la faible
incidence de toutes ces avancées
sur les conditions de la vie humaine.
Ainsi, l’espérance de vie n’a
réellement progressé que dans les
premières années de la vie, et
surtout grâce à des mesures
d’hygiène et de protection de la
mère et de l’enfant. À l’inverse, ces
progrès ont bien peu d’effet sur les
fins de vie avec leur cortège de
maladies chroniques dégénératives
et invalidantes à évolution
irréversible et le plus souvent
mortelles (cancers, Alzheimer,
accidents vasculaires divers ...). Il
est sans doute nécessaire de définir
une approche innovante des
orientations de la recherche
médicale de demain.
II est évident que les travaux des
scientifiques aient contribué à la
transformation radicale de la vie de
l'homme. Mais un grand nombre de
résultats de leurs recherches sont
tombés entre les mains de
