The Manisis Chronicles

Chapter Seventeen
As much as we loved our home in Five Corners, we were rapidly outgrowing it. Our
three children were older now and each wanted and needed a room of his or her own.
So we went to the local real estate brokers and told them that we needed something
larger in the same area and to let us know when something matching our desires came
along.
Before long we received a call from one of the agents, assuring us that he had just
what we were looking for. (After all, would he ever say anything else?) We all piled
into our car and went to look at this new home. It was a large, rambling ranch style
with an unfinished, but spacious, basement and an attached garage. This property was
in what was called the Saint Bernadette area, so called because of the Saint Bernadette
Catholic Church nearby. It most certainly had all the room we needed, the children
could each have a room of their own, and we looked forward to having the attached
garage, since we had never had one before in any of our houses.
I asked the owner, a contractor who had built the house for himself, if he would finish
the basement to my specifications for the asking price. He readily accepted this
provision, and we signed an agreement of sale.
It was only after we had completed the formalities of sale that we began to consider
the downside of the new home. Unlike all our previous dwellings it was on a small lot,
in a housing development with neighbors on all sides of us. Though the new house
was near our old home, the school district was different, and as we soon found out, it
was not as refined or as desirable as that for Five Corners. Once we moved into the
new house (it never really became a home) we discovered more problems. While the
interior could have made the pages of House and Garden, we found it sterile and
unimaginative. When we had first looked at the house, we noticed this about the
décor, but assumed in time we would come to appreciate its modern ambiance. The
undeniable fact was that time only made it more irritating to all our senses. Despite
our dissatisfaction, we had no complaint with the real estate person or the seller. It
was a good house; everything worked just as it was advertised. It just was not our
house, and so we began to look in the Sunday want ads for a new house that could
become our home.
From this episode in our lives Elaine and I, and the children, too, learned some
valuable lessons, the main one being to “never settle for half a dream.” Our new house
met several of our requirements for a home, but as we soon discovered was devoid of
those most important to us. We also discovered that we had bought the house with our
minds and not our hearts. Our minds told us the house had the modern conveniences
we should have, but our hearts told us from the beginning that it was not our kind of
place. The next time we were determined not to make that same mistake again. Lastly
we learned, the hard way, the truth of the real estate doctrine that the three most
important things in buying a house really are: location, location and location.
Fortunately, an opportunity to test all our newly gained wisdom came along shortly.
Elaine found a house in the Sunday paper that sounded just like what we were looking
for. The price was a little higher than we had paid for our present house, but less than
we were willing to pay for what we wanted. She called the broker and he was willing
to show us the house that afternoon. The house was in the Normandy Park area of the
south end of Seattle, which was considered one of the most refined and exclusive
sections in that part of town. We were not at all disappointed as we approached the
property. This was an area of fine homes on spacious irregular large lots. No tract
homes here.
As we turned into the driveway of this house, we were overjoyed to find a long
descending lane with beautiful plantings of roses and rhododendrons on both sides.
When we arrived at the house itself, we discovered a rambling cottage style with a
detached garage (you just can’t have everything) surrounded with more beautiful trees
and plantings. Before we went inside, the realtor took us around the house to look at
the backyard. The house was on an incline, and the backyard sloped first to a lovely
fish pond, and then to a lovely babbling brook at the bottom of the property. This
entire lower yard was bedecked with rare flowering trees and plants of all
descriptions.
I looked at Elaine and she looked at me and each knew what the other was thinking.
We wanted this place and didn’t even care what the house looked like. Fortunately, the
house was just as lovely inside as the yard was outside. The owner and his wife were
at home, and when I met him I had only one question: “Why would you ever want to
leave such a ‘Heaven on Earth’?” He assured me that neither he nor his wife, who I
presumed was the motivating force behind all this beauty, wanted to leave, but he
worked for Boeing and had been transferred to Wichita, Kansas. I said nothing, but
two thoughts ran through my mind: (1) He will never find this sort of beauty in
Kansas no matter how much he pays, and (2) I am glad to be self-employed so I can
work where I want to and not where someone else wants me to.
After we had seen the entire house, I called Elaine aside and told her that I was not
going to leave until we had purchased the property. Knowing me, she did not seem
surprised and, true to form, began to figure in her mind how we could make payments
on two houses at the same time. I called the realtor aside and told him our decision,
and he seemed a little taken aback and asked me if I didn’t just want to make an offer
at a lower price first. I told him, “No, I feel the price is fair and I just want to purchase
the property as soon as possible.” He went to the owners to let them know our
decision, and they were delighted. The realtor went to his car, came back with the
necessary papers, and the deal was closed in short order.
Now that we were the proud owners of two houses, nay, one house and one home, we
had to plan how to keep our heads above water financially. Fortunately, Elaine was an
excellent and frugal budgeter, and she soon found a way to keep us solvent until we
could sell our present house and move into our little piece of Heaven. This was not
long in coming. Since our present domicile was modern, nearly new and had all the
desirable middle-income amenities, it sold quickly and for a profit. It did seem that
while the Celestial forces were willing to let us get ourselves into an undesirable
situation to give us an opportunity to learn valuable lessons, they were sufficiently
lenient not to make us suffer unduly for our error.
Once we were ensconced in our new home, all was well again. We all soon felt as if
we had lived there all our lives, and Elaine and I were fully planning to grow old
together in our little bit of Heaven. As you will see in later chapters, however, this was
not to be.
When I met with Dr. Claymore that fall, I could not stop talking about our new home.
He seemed genuinely pleased, but quite amused at my ramblings. When I told him
about the discoveries Elaine and I had made about our minds and hearts, he seemed to
take greater interest. He smiled and said, “There is an old Italian proverb that goes,
‘Experience is what you get when you don’t get what you wanted.’ You and your wife
are a perfect example of this.”
I nodded my head in agreement and finally stopped my monologue, remembering the
words of Democritus, “To do all the talking and not be willing to listen is a form of
greed.”
While it had been a busy year, with the moves and all, I had not forgotten my last
session with Dr. Claymore. I had thought of many questions I felt still were not
answered in my mind. Therefore, when he asked, as he always did, “Well, Dr.
Bruington, do you have any questions before I begin?,” my response was a resounding
“Yes.”
I began, “I still am not quite convinced about the validity of the predictions of coming
world changes. There are many peace groups organizing world prayer for
international physical and emotional healing. May not these be able to bring about the
Heaven on Earth without the destruction of life and nations that you predict?”
Dr. Claymore looked at me as if to say, “Have you heard nothing I have said to you in
sessions the last few years?” but instead of giving voice to his thoughts, he calmly
began his instruction. “When you go to a bank and want to withdraw a thousand
dollars and you have only fifty dollars in your savings account, do you really think
that prayer and kind thoughts are going to convince the bank to give you the money?
Even if you could convince them to do such a thing, where would they get the funds?
Would they not have to take the money from the account of another person, and is that
fair to that person? The Celestial Law is the bank. You are able to withdraw from it
only what you have deposited there, no more. The Law always must balance, just like
the accounts of an honest bank. I have to say ‘honest bank’ because today the entire
business community is rife with corruption and dishonesty, as we have discussed
before.
“The Chinese have a proverb that says it much better than anything I can add. It goes
this way as I remember it:
“If there is righteousness in the heart of the individual, there will be beauty in the
character.
“If there is beauty in the character, there will be harmony in the home.
“If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation.
“When there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world.
“That, my dear Dr. Bruington, is the only road to the prophesied Heaven on Earth. All
the prayers, fasting, peace marches and what have you will have nothing but negative
effects until the heart of each individual changes to embrace righteousness.”
“But,” I began to utter when he stopped me.
“But, but, but, you always have buts, don’t you, Dr. Bruington?”
Of course the next word out of my mouth was, “But,” and he just rolled his eyes, as he
let me continue. “But how can we expect to create a Heaven on Earth if we first have
to make all the present inhabitants of the planet ‘righteous’?”
“Ah,” he quipped. “You’re finally getting the point. The answer is we can’t. It could
take hundreds of thousands of years for some now on this Earth to develop
righteousness.”
“But,” I started, but changed my words as I saw him wince, “If we can’t expect such
righteousness for eons, how is the Golden Age you and others predict going to
occur?”
He didn’t answer for a few moments. Then he slowly rocked back in his chair and
began his dissertation with, “Dr. Bruington, I really don’t know how I could have
made things clearer, but-—there’s your word again—I will try for the last time, and I
mean that. Remember what I said when we first met about the fact that patience could
be a sin.”
Although I felt thoroughly chastened, I was still riveted to my seat by his gaze as he
continued, “We live in the time of the Separation of the wheat and the chaff or tares.
Scripture tells us to let the wheat and the chaff grow together until they are mature so
that they may be easily identified and separated. We are now in the process of this
maturing. We have more individuals in the world now than ever before, and they will
continue to increase until the Soul World is nearly empty. This is to give every Soul,
no matter how young and undeveloped, a chance to be part of the wheat, for when the
Separation comes, the Celestial forces do not want any Soul to be able to say, ‘You did
not give me a chance.’
“The unfortunate effect of this great leniency on the part of the Celestial forces is that
it has filled the world with a great many nearly wholly carnal individuals. This is one
reason why the world is as it is, and why it will continue to get worse during your
lifetime. This is referred to in Revelation as the unleashing of Satan for a season.
Eventually the days of reckoning will come, and the Great Separation of the wheat
from the tares will begin in earnest. You should live to see this.
“Now I know that most of this is not new to you, Dr. Bruington. After all, we have
gone over this matter several times in past years. However, it seems that you have
missed a vital component of this process, and that is the fact that the only way to the
prophesied Heaven on Earth is by the elimination of the chaff or tares. This will leave
a much smaller world population, but one that is far more inclined to be righteous,
because they have developed these qualities within themselves. They have ‘put money
in the bank,’ as it were, and during the days of trial and tribulation will be able to
withdraw it.”
“I think the light is beginning to dawn,” I said. The expression on Dr. Claymore’s face
was one of “It’s about time.”
I continued, “The young Souls and the more developed Souls have both been given a
chance to be a part of the New Renaissance, but only a very few of the young Souls
are likely to survive the Separation of the wheat and chaff. But, I know there’s that
‘but’ again, but what will happen to the young Souls that were a part of the chaff?”
“First of all,” he replied, “it is not only young Souls that will be taken away as chaff,
but all Souls, no matter what their ‘age,’ who are not able to meet the requirement of
righteousness. Many of the individuals from the nations of the Old World are very old
Souls that have made little progress during incarnation after incarnation. On the
contrary, many have become more wicked with each new incarnation, but have not
reached the point where they have forfeited their right to reincarnate. It is the
influence of these Souls that has kept the nations of the Old World in turmoil and
hatred, and this is the main reason that these nations will be destroyed and entirely
new lands and nationalities emerge.
“Now this is not the doing of the Celestial forces, but rather the automatic reaction of
the Law due to the long-term degeneracy of these nations and people. The Karma of a
nation is only a reflection of the combined Karma of its citizens over a period of
time.”
“What will happen to the people who are destroyed in the Separation of the wheat and
chaff?” I asked again.
“You want to distinguish between temporal individuals and Souls,” he replied. “The
temporal beings will be returned to ‘dust’ as always and the Souls returned to the Soul
World as usual. However, if the person while on the Earth destroyed the substance
required to develop the Soul, or Celestial Seed, then on the death of the temporal
body, the person’s eternal individuality is lost and is known no more.”
“Does that happen very often?” I asked.
“Much more now than in the past,” he replied. “The newer technologies have made it
much more common than before, but that is for another session. At this time I want to
get back to our still-functioning Souls that are the chaff of the Great Separation
needed to produce the prophesied Heaven on Earth. As in the days of Atlantis, the
Celestial forces have the power to hold these individual Souls back from reincarnating
for a very long time, and that is what they will do. This is not an undeserved
punishment (there is no such thing under the Celestial Law), but only the reaction of
the Law to their previous activities.
“By holding these Souls back from incarnating soon to the Earth, they give the
‘wheat’ a chance to so reorganize the world that when these ‘chaff’ Souls are
eventually allowed to return, their ‘evil’ natures can be controlled and restrained by
those who by that time will have truly built a Heaven on Earth.”
“How long might it be before these Souls are allowed to reincarnate?” I asked.
“The Bible speaks of a thousand years of peace before Satan—Satan, of course, being
the generic name for the evil these ‘chaff’ Souls have within them—will again be
released into the world, that is, until these Souls are allowed to return. Now the times
given in the Scriptures are only relative. That ‘thousand years’ may be more like five
thousand in actual temporal years. It may take that long or even longer before the
Celestial forces feel it is safe to release these Souls of the destroyed chaff back to
Earth. They will wait until they are certain Satan’s return will be as short as the
Biblical prediction and that he eventually would be ‘bound’ permanently.”
“I’m sorry I’m so difficult. I guess that as a doctor, I just don’t like seeing people
perish. It is my desire to help and cure all possible,” said I.
“I understand,” said Dr. Claymore, “but at best we can only catch a glimpse of the
future that the Celestial forces have planned. If we have faith in them and their
wisdom, all will be well. Remember what Jesus said when he went into the Garden of
Gethsemane to pray. He ended his prayer with, ‘Nevertheless, thy will, not mine, be
done.’ As far advanced as he was, he still would not take it upon himself to second-
guess the Celestial forces. He was always willing to acquiesce to their will, and so
should we.”
Dr. Claymore seemed to indicate that we had covered the subject, which gave me the
opportunity to inject another thought.
“I have another question,” I hesitantly said, “one from Elaine”
At this his ears pricked up since this was the first time Elaine had ever asked me to
relay a question for her.
“Well,” said Dr. Claymore, “I am most interested to hear what your wife has on her
mind. What is her question?”
I hemmed and hawed a bit since I did not know how he would take Elaine’s question,
but since I had promised her I would ask it I knew there was no escape. So I mustered
my courage and stated, “She feels that we are too matter-of-fact about something that
most people would consider a terrible tragedy. She wants to know why the Philosophy
doesn’t seem to show compassion for the millions of people who may be destroyed in
the coming years by the action of the Law during the Great Separation.”
Dr. Claymore seemed to be amused at my obvious discomfort in delivering this
message when he replied, “What about you, Dr. Bruington? Do you think you and I
have lacked compassion in our approach to the coming events?”
“Well, to tell you the truth,” I replied, “I have been so busy trying to figure out how I
was going to help those we might be able to save as wheat that I’ve not really given
the others much thought.”
“And so you should not,” he assured me. “They will be taken care of by the Celestial
Law.”
“Elaine says that in the Bible Jesus wept over the transgressions of the people of his
day, but I find that hard to do. Am I just too hard-hearted?” I asked.
“We each show compassion in our own way, Dr. Bruington,” he replied. “Take
Manisis, for instance. He is a very advanced Celestial who had a near-idyllic existence
in the upper realms, but for love of mankind he volunteered to come back to Earth, as
did the Nazarene, to endure the ‘slings and arrows of outrageous fortune’ in order to
help deliver a new interpretation of the Law. This really is compassion, a lifetime of
dedication, not just a few short-lived tears. Not that I decry such show of a
compassionate nature, but it does little to correct the underlying problems that
encouraged the tears.”
“But Elaine also wants to know if we are going to do anything to alleviate the
suffering of those who form the chaff. Don’t these individuals deserve our compassion
for what will happen to them?” I asked.
“I think that you have an incorrect view of what is happening to those who may end
up as chaff, Dr. Bruington,” he replied. “The Celestial Law is most compassionate in
its management of their future. Many of these are young Souls that have been given a
rare chance to partake in the New Order of the Ages. However, the Celestial forces
also realized that only a very few of these young Souls would be able to improve
themselves sufficiently in the time allotted before the Great Separation so that they
would, or could, be included among the wheat.
“For most of these Souls, the longer they remain on Earth the deeper they dig
themselves into the morass of Karmic indebtedness. To protect them from adding
Karma on top of Karma, the Celestial forces will remove them to the Soul World for a
few thousand years while the more advanced Souls are able to complete their Heaven
on Earth. In the Soul World these Souls are not able to incur any more Karma and so
are held in abeyance to contemplate their past and to develop resolve to improve their
future when they are again allowed to reincarnate.
“By the time they do return, the wiser Souls on the Earth will have restructured
civilization to the extent that they will be able to advance under their guidance and
avoid the pitfalls of previous incarnations.
“Now I see,” said I. “This is really a win-win situation. What an ingenious
arrangement! Both the wheat and chaff will come out winners in the long run thanks
to the foresight of those above.”
Dr. Claymore smiled, “That is why we call them the Celestial forces. They know how
to do things right. So you see, the Great Separation is the most compassionate event
that is possible under the circumstances. We have little reason to weep over the
functioning of a Celestial Law that in the end benefits all.”
It all made good sense to me. I only trusted that I could explain it to Elaine as well as
Dr. Claymore had to me.
After a moment’s reflection I said, “I think I finally understand what you are trying to
tell me. The coming prophesied events are not really to be looked at as a catastrophe,
but rather as an essential part of the Celestial forces’ plan to help man to achieve the
Heaven on Earth that he has dreamed of for so long. It is the only way to bring this
desired event about.”
Dr. Claymore smiled that special smile of his that said, “You finally got it right.”
“I guess death on the temporal plane is never really a great tragedy; it is only a way to
create a balance in both the temporal and Soul worlds,” I continued.
“It’s not quite that simple,” replied Dr. Claymore. “Death can be a real tragedy to
those left behind. Children without parents, wives without husbands, husbands
without loving wives—by these death will be perceived as a tragedy.”
“But isn’t this only the working of the Law?” replied I.
“That may be, but that is a difficult thing to tell a young child whose parents have just
been killed in an auto accident.”
“I see your point,” I admitted.
“You see, Dr. Bruington,” he went on, “philosophy is one thing, the realities of
temporal life quite another. You will find this in your medical practice. You will hear
tales of woe and tribulation that will tear at your heart and make your mind reel, but it
will be your job to trace the working of the Law in all these events and then to find
what needs to be done to begin the process of fortune reversal.”
“I never looked at doctoring exactly in that way before,” I replied.
“Of course you haven’t,” he continued. “That is because you are young and only
recently learned how to discern where each patient has broken the Laws of Nature
and/or the Celestial Law and then how to help each one to understand these Laws and
what each must do to come into harmony with them.”
“But most doctors don’t do this, do they?” I asked.
“It is not for us to judge others, but it does not seem to be an integral part of most
medical training. But remember, Dr. Bruington, you are a student of the Philosophy.
As such you have a greater responsibility than most doctors. How do you ever think
that you will be competent to teach the Manistic Law to all humanity if you are not
willing to teach it to your patients where needed?
“But,” he said as he changed the subject, “that is a discussion for another session.
Let’s get back to the coming changes. Two things you need to remember: One, these
catastrophic changes are not coming because they are the whim of the Celestial
forces; they are the inevitable reaction to the previous actions of those involved,
whether they be individuals, ethnic groups, nations, continents or races. Second, while
the Celestial forces may not, under the Law of their own being, initiate these events,
they do have the power and the option to direct and manipulate them in accordance
with the Law.”
“And this means what?” I interjected.
“It means,” said he, “that the Celestial forces can arrange the timing of these reactions
to coincide with their desire to give the men on the Earth one more chance to prove
that they can really live in peace and harmony. This is the last chance, however. If we
fail this time, mankind as we know it will vanish, and a new life form will have to
emerge in time to attempt once again to use the power of Free Will and Personal
Responsibility to create a civilization on this planet that emulates that of the Celestial
forces.”
“Is it possible that mankind may fail?” I asked.
“I sometimes wonder if we have any real chance of success when I watch us devour
one another like so many jungle animals,” he replied. “But let me get down to
specifics as they have been prophesied for centuries by the Great Masters. As
mentioned, many if not all the nations of the Old World have been so decadent for so
long and the Karma of both the nations and the people so great that the Celestial
forces do not see any possible regeneration of these nations and people as such.
Therefore, the lands of these nations and peoples will be destroyed, and new lands
will arise that will eventually be inhabited by new peoples. Not exactly ‘new peoples,’
though; rather the survivors of the destructive Earth changes. There will be no
Germany, no France, no Spain, no Italy, no China, no Japan, as such.
“Those who are able to survive these changes will be those who possess the least of
the qualities that caused this destruction in the first place. Their hearts will be as free
from the Karma of the former nations as is possible, given the circumstances. They
will need to establish new nations once the ground and oceans have settled. Since
those individuals who made up the degenerate mass of the Old World will not be
allowed to reincarnate for thousands of years, the progeny of these ‘new people’ will
not bring with them the Karma of the Old World nations, but may well be advanced
Souls from previous ancient civilizations. By the time those of the Old World and
their Karma are once again allowed to reincarnate, that is, after a few thousand years,
it is expected that the established society will be so much in harmony with the
Celestial Law that even the former Old World nationals will not be able to degrade it.
They will either grow into harmony with it, or destroy their own individualities and
thereby lose any chance of further incarnations. In either case their influence will be
neutralized.”
“Are we talking about America now?” I asked.
“No,” said he. “We are talking about the changed lands of the Old World. The surface
of the Earth will change, old lands will disappear and new lands arise. This is nothing
new for the Earth; it has happened several times before. The flood of Noah is not a
myth, or rather it is a true event that has been depicted as a myth in the Bible. This
same thing happened in the days of Lemuria and Atlantis. In each instance the people
as a whole had become so destructive and corrupt that the Celestial Law brought
about their physical destruction. Their crimes were so great, like those of our present
Old World nations, that not only were the physical bodies of the people destroyed, but
their lands as well, so that they would have no chance on their return to Earth to repeat
their evil ways in the exact same environment.
“More than this, all these peoples of the past lost civilizations were held in the Soul
World for five to ten thousand years, not only as a punishment, but to allow the
memory of their past decadency to fade from their consciousness. Only after this
period of enforced memory loss were they allowed to reincarnate.”
“And this is what is going to happen to most of those who now live in the Old World
nations?” I asked.
“That is the prediction,” he replied.
“But now where does America come in?” I asked.
“That,” he continued, “is where the Celestial forces changed the ‘script’ of their past
practices. In the past they have just destroyed the old civilizations and waited until,
with his gift of life and Free Will, man would build a new one. With each new effort
the Celestial forces trusted that man would learn from experience and that this new
effort would be the one that produced the Heaven on Earth. Again and again they were
disappointed. Apparently, man has an almost infinite capacity for evil and an irrational
desire to flout the Celestial Law. Therefore, a new plan was created by the Celestials
to give man one last chance before he is to be thrown into the limbo of forgotten
things as a failed experiment.
“But let me tell you the real behind-the-scenes story as Manisis confided it to me. One
of the more ingenious Celestial beings, Brother Viavay, decided to give mankind one
last chance by establishing a new nation that had no debilitating Karmic background
and to place in this land—or rather to allow them to place themselves—the best and
noblest individuals from the various nations of the Old World. The laws governing
this special nation were to be based on the Celestial Law and so would appeal to those
individuals all over the world whose hearts were pure enough to resonate with the
Celestial Law as codified in the American Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the
Declaration of Independence.
“The plan was that once every individual throughout the Old World who wanted to
come to this New World and who was able to harmonize his heart with the Soul of
America had come to this new nation, the Old World Order would be destroyed, its
degenerate peoples held in the Soul World for thousands of years, and Americans
allowed to create the true Heaven on Earth.”
“But what about Washington’s Vision of the devastation of America?” I asked.
“Well, now, don’t get ahead of me,” warned Dr. Claymore. “This was the original plan
as advanced by Brother Viavay. It was a good plan and was much applauded by all,
except for one wise Elder by the name of Brother Entroll. ‘It won’t work,’ said he.
‘Don’t you know that once this new nation becomes prosperous, all the decadent
knaves from the Old World nations will attempt to seduce it to the old ways? And if
they can’t do that to their full satisfaction, they will rise up to destroy it, since if it
holds firm to its principles, it threatens their control of the Old World.’
“These were very sobering thoughts for the rest of the Celestial beings, and they
pondered them carefully. Finally one of the other Elders, Brother Derigon, began to
speak. ‘Brother Entroll is correct. As this new nation prospers, and it must prosper if it
is governed by laws similar to the Celestial Laws, it will become the target of all the
Old World rogues. There is probably nothing we can do to prevent this. We just have
to let it happen. This new nation will not be the pure entity that Brother Viavay
envisioned, but it can be made so in time with our help. This is my suggestion. We
establish this nation with the help of those on Earth who understand the Celestial
Philosophy, just as Brother Viavay planned. We will help them write into the laws of
this nation a true reflection of the Celestial Laws. We will let the nation grow and
become the dominant force in the world. This it must be, since its philosophy, unlike
any of the Old World nations, is based on the Celestial Law. As its fame grows, it will
attract individuals both good and evil. In the latter days the evil immigrants will
undoubtedly overwhelm the good since there are so many more of them.’”
“Now this is some story,” I interjected.
“Dr. Bruington, why don’t you keep quiet and let Brother Derigon continue?” Dr.
Claymore admonished.
I put my hand over my mouth as a sign of obedience.
Dr. Claymore continued as Brother Derigon, “‘Now if we don’t help these new
people, the Old World influences will corrupt them as they have done over and over
again throughout the rest of the world. If at the time we are to carry out the expected
destruction of the Old World we do nothing about the subversive forces in this new
land, they will simply take over, and Brother Viavay’s new land will become a
decadent polyglot copy of the Old World Order. If we let this happen, we might as
well destroy it with the Old World, let mankind perish completely and start over with
a new, and hopefully more desirable, species.’”
“‘But,’ said Brother Viavay, ‘is there nothing we can do to preserve this new nation
for the glorious outcome I have envisioned?’”
“‘Yes,’ said Brother Derigon. ‘Here is my addition to your plan. We help to create
your nation as you envision. We will help to inspire those who are acquainted with the
Celestial Philosophy to do the work necessary on the temporal plane. Since, as I
understand it, this new nation-to-be is now a colony of a powerful Old World country,
it will need our help in throwing off this yoke, but that should not be too difficult for
us to do. As it matures, it will meet other challenges, but we will help it to find the
right man at the right time to meet each one.
“‘Once this new nation becomes wealthy—a magnet to scoundrels—the influx of
undesirables will come, and we will do nothing to stop them. These knaves will do
their best to enslave this new people, and by their cunning, will do it in such a way
that the people will think they are receiving favors. Your new people, Brother Viavay,
may be good, but not too wise.
“‘We will let the chaff grow with the wheat as it will, and eventually it will outweigh
the wheat. The Old World influences in your new nation will see to it that this nation
does all it can to entangle itself with the intrigues of the Old World. In this way the
Old World mavens will be able to control both the political and financial
establishments of your new country. These Old World influences will try to create a
feeling of hatred, envy and fear in all the Old World nations relative to your new
nation. Their purpose in this is twofold: first, to sap the moral and financial strength of
your new nation to enrich their interests in the Old World, and second, to weaken this
new nation to a point at which the combined forces of the Old World may invade and
try to destroy it forever. By such an effort they hope to eliminate all semblance of the
Celestial Law on Earth, since they recognize its acceptance by the people as a
deathblow to all their selfish enterprises.
“‘However,’ Brother Derigon continued, ‘we will have something to say about the
plans of these Old World rogues. Because of the Celestial input into the formation of
your new nation, Brother Viavay, there will be many good people in this nation, even
in the latter days. They are naïve and ignorant of the Law, but good at heart. To help
these dear Souls I suggest that we send our Brother Manisis to Earth to help teach
them the Law. While they may not listen to his voice at first over the cacophony of
Old World voices, when the partial destruction of your new nation begins, they may
listen more intently.
“‘Next we will allow the weakening of your nation to the extent that the Old World
powers will decide to invade and destroy it utterly.’
“Brother Viavay shuddered visibly. Brother Derigon noticed and assured him by
saying, ‘It must be, Brother Viavay, since it is the only way to rid your new nation of
those who do not belong there, that is, those who in their hearts still belong to the Old
World. When the time is right, the Old World forces will invade from Asia, Europe
and Africa. Your nation will have to defend itself against the entire Old World. As
these Old World forces spread out over your land, they will effectively remove from
your land all those who are not in harmony with our objectives. It is undoubtedly true
that some of those loyal to the Celestial concept will perish as well—I think on Earth
they call this collateral damage—but these will be allowed to reincarnate rapidly so
that they will be ready to help in the Reconstruction period that follows. But I am
getting ahead of myself.
“‘Now, once the Old World component of your new nation has been destroyed by the
Old World invaders—an ironic touch, don’t you think?—those true Souls left will be
hard pressed to defeat the remaining invaders without our help. This is where the great
land changes come into play. Just as it seems that the Old World will win this battle,
we will give the signal for the Earth changes to begin in earnest. This will have such a
demoralizing effect on the invading forces that they will be easily overcome, and once
your new nation is back on its feet it may finally become your center of the
prophesied Heaven on Earth. Well, what do you think, Brother Viavay?’
“‘I don’t like the idea of all that destruction in my nation, but I will acquiesce to your
superior understanding of human nature,’ replied Brother Viavay. ‘One thing, though:
Couldn’t we give the people of this new nation some warning of what is to come?’
“‘That’s possible. Brother Entroll, what do you think of my plan, and do you think
that we may give the people some warning of the events to come?’
“Brother Entroll came forward, and after a bit of mumbling said, ‘I really think it is
time to start over again. These men we have created are not to my liking. But Brother
Derigon’s plan is the best I can think of. As far as a warning, I see no harm; only you
should realize that it will probably go unheeded. These earthlings are not very wise in
such things.’
“‘Just what kind of a warning did you have in mind, Brother Viavay?’ asked Brother
Derigon.
“‘I was thinking of creating a Vision for one of the Founders of this new nation that
would give him an insight as to the coming events. He could then tell the others, and, I
trust, the people of the latter days would gain some guidance from this Vision.’
“‘That sounds fine to me,’ said Brother Derigon. ‘Is there any dissension from the
other Brothers?’
“No one uttered a word, and so Brother Derigon continued, ‘As I remember, this is
what we are going to do. We will give the present species on Earth with our gift of
Free Will one more chance. Brother Viavay, with the help of any of the other Brothers
who may want to assist him in this effort, will create a new nation in what is called on
Earth the Western Hemisphere. Those involved will see that its laws are in harmony
with Celestial Law as much as is possible, given the eccentricities of the temporal
sphere. Early on in this endeavor Brother Viavay will see that one of the main human
Founders of the new nation will have a Vision that will give him a human view of
what we have planned for this new nation’s future here today.
“‘For some time we will allow this new nation to develop naturally, allowing both
good and bad elements to enter without our interference. I trust that Brother Viavay’s
choice of Founders and the Vision he gives to one of them will help the inhabitants of
this new land realize the difference between the good and the bad and not allow the
bad to become a majority too rapidly.’
“‘We shall certainly try,’ interjected Brother Viavay.
“‘I’m sure you will,’ said Brother Derigon as he continued. ‘Finally, when this new
nation reaches the point where it has become offensive to most of the Old World, it
will be invaded and ravished. All this is within the Celestial Law because it did not
stay true to its mission but allowed elements and forces of the Old World to pervert its
destiny. These elements must be removed, and the best way to do that and to teach
those who remain an unforgettable lesson is by such invasion and ravishment.
“‘Once the Old World element in this new nation has been removed and the remnant
properly chastised, we will take control, make the needed changes in the Earth’s crust
to eliminate the Old World nations and create new lands for the new people to expand
as needed. Have I forgotten anything?’
“Brother Entroll started to frown, and as this was observed by Brother Derigon, he
added, ‘Oh, yes, just in case this plan does not work and mankind does fail utterly,
Brother Entroll has been working on a few new Earth species for our consideration
and I’m certain that he will be overjoyed to discuss these with any of the Brothers or
Sisters who may be interested.’
“Brother Entroll’s frown turned into a big smile, and Brother Derigon knew it was
time to adjourn the meeting, which he did. And that, my dear Dr. Bruington, is what is
going to happen and why.”
Dr. Claymore had discussed these matters before in our sessions, but never in such
depth and with such candor. I was somewhat taken aback by his story of the Celestial
beings. It was as if he had been there.
“Does this mean that Manisis is a Celestial being?” I asked.
“He is a Celestial Messenger,” was his only reply,
“When do you think that we can expect these events to happen?” I asked.
“Which events?” he queried.
“I mean the invasion of America,” I replied.
“Not in my day,” he answered. “When I was younger I was certain it would occur in
my time, since I could not see how America could get much worse, but it has, and I’m
fairly certain that it will continue to do so until you’re older than I am now. It seems
that the Celestial forces want to make the difference between good and evil so obvious
that only a true idiot—that is, one completely incapable of telling right from wrong—
will not be able see what is going on in the nation. The corruption has been subtle, but
ever-expanding. What we consider as evil today may well, by the time you’re my age,
be accepted as standard fare.”
[I have thought much about these comments in the ensuing years and remember them
whenever I see a program on the popular HBO network flaunting sexual perversity in
a way that in Dr. Claymore’s day would have landed all concerned in the production
in jail.]
The session had been long, and both Dr. Claymore and I were looking forward to our
suppers. We said good-bye and he wished me well in my practice, letting me know
that if there was ever anything he could do to help me, I had but to ask. In
consideration of his time and age, I availed myself of this kind offer very seldom, but
when I did he was always of great help.
When I arrived home, I found Elaine working on one of the many rhododendron
bushes we had in our new yard. This is the state flower of Washington, and this plant
grows more luxuriantly there than in any other environment.
Elaine and I had much to talk about for the next few days. She found Dr. Claymore’s
story of the coming events fascinating but disturbing, although she seemed satisfied
with his answer to her question. In some ways I am pleased that she returned to the
Soul World once again before the attacks on America begin in earnest. She was such a
gentle Soul that I know they would have troubled her greatly. Being of a more
philosophic bent, I trust I will be able to take them in stride if I am still on this planet
at that time.
