Archie Smith Boy Wonder

By: Nathaniel Stark

Archie was a young boy, twelve to be exact. He was as quiet as

a teddy bear. He hardly ever spoke out loud. Though he was quiet, he was keen and intelligent. He had twinkling eyes that shone bright blue; his hair was like a blond mop on his head.

He had just headed off to bed after hearing a long lecture from
his foster parents. You see, he had an uncanny ability to cause mysterious things to happen that he didnt intend. He had just gotten lectured because he had scrambled the keys on his foster moms computer keyboard. Now his foster mom had to type differently. In the past he had made things such as books, cooking utensils, and other miscellaneous items do weird and unusual things.

Archie climbed into bed with his one and only friend in life, his
ragged torn sock monkey Bobo. Why, Bobo? sniffled Archie, tears sliding down his face like water droplets sliding down an icicle. Why do all these things happen to me?

Archie was not only referring to the mystical things that

happened around him but also to the bullies at school that picked on poor little Archie. They called him things that I cant print. They were cruel things. Not only did they call him names but they mercilessly punched him and spat on him. But poor little Archie couldnt do anything about it so he took it all silently.

Archie wiped the tears from his cheeks and face and stopped
sobbing. He hugged Bobo tightly then said, Maybe tomorrow will be better. He rested his head down on a pillow and smiled at the thought of a better day and drifted into a dreamless sleep.

A tiny voice asked, Is he the one?

I think so. whispered another voice. All right, then you know what to do. The first voice whispered back. And make it snappy we have five minutes. Right-O captain!

Archie woke up the next morning, groggy, but feeling a little

better than the night before. It wasnt until he rubbed his eyes open that he realized something was different. It was cold. As if he was standing behind a waterfall. What smells funny? mused Archie out loud. It was dark and smelled of mildew. Im in a cave! Archie thought. This is all so strange! Archie thought. Then lights came on all of a sudden and Archie was flooded by the blinding bulbs as if a wave had crashed onto him. Two men walked in, one was tall and brilliant the other was a little shorter but had a smile that glowed.

The men explained to Archie that he was a magical being, as

you may have suspected. He was slightly shocked but it all somehow made sense. All the crazy things that happened around him were caused by his uncontrollable magic. The mens names, Archie later found out, were Jonathan Hartman (the tall man) and Tom Harrison

(the shorter man). They taught Archie how to better control his magic and Archie got the hang of it really quickly.

He learned not only about how to control his magic, but about
the magical organization. He was in the underground city of Tarris. There were many other people that were magical beings and no one on earth knew about them. They mostly used their magic for making their lives easier, but every now and then in history there is a major crisis and the MSC (Magical Service Crew) are on the job saving the earth. Some magical beings are so un-selfish that they do things for others all the time. You know who Santa Claus is? Hes the head of the MBC (Magical Beings Counsel). Have you ever heard of Superman? Hes a hit with all the magical girls in Tarris.

Archie had a great time in Tarris, but realized he had to go

home. He had spent six hours in Tarris. My foster parents will be worried sick!! he had told Tom. Theyll probably lecture me on not running off., he grumbled. Okay well plan for a time in the future, but for now well fly you home. John said sighing a little. Oh! Take these! Tom said. They were lenses with a slight red tint around the edge. Theyll turn down your magic so you wont so things that you dont want to do. Good! Exclaimed Archie, Thats just what I need!

Archie was flown home in a magical aircraft that traveled at the

speed of light and was invisible to the non-magical eye. When he got home, he indeed got lectured by his parents, but they were a little curious about his new glasses. He climbed into his bed and gently sat his blond mop of hair onto his pillow. He thought about all the things that happened that day and was amazed. He fell asleep just thinking about all of it.

Epilogue
Twenty-two years later

Archie Smith had grown up to be the Superman of his day.

They called him, The Boy Wonder. He had grown up saving people and has saved over two-hundred lives. He single handedly wiped out the swine flu and is currently now looking for a job like Santa Clauses. (If we have a new holiday, youll know why!)
