ECON3410 MONEY AND BANKING SEMESTER 1, 2008/2009 TERM PAPER GUIDELINES

(1) The term paper accounts for 15% of your final grade. It is a group effort. Each group has a maximum of three (3) members. (2) TOPICS: Each group will choose a topic from a given list of possible areas in money and banking, and has to come up with a specific title later on. Within the next 3 weeks (latest by Thursday, 31st July 2008), the group members will have to discuss with the lecturer as to the specific title that the group has decided to focus on. (3) BASIC OUTLINE OF THE PAPER: The paper should comprise of the normal content, that is, introduction, literature review, data and methodology, results and conclusions. You are advised to be creative about the content of the basic outline. If possible, you are encouraged to use econometric analysis in your paper. Please note that the content of the paper is also up to your creativity and suitability of your topic. (4) LENGTH OF PAPER: A minimum of 10 pages write-up, doublespacing, font-size 12, Times New Roman (excluding tables, figures and appendix). (5) DATELINE: To be submitted on the day of the last class meeting of the semester. For late submissions, 5 points will be deducted per day. (6) PRESENTATION: If time permits, you might have to present your research output during class time prior to the final submission (item 5). Comments given during the presentation will help to further improve the term paper. (7) GRADING OF THE TERM PAPER: The term paper will be graded based on the following criteria:
