The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington offers a Ph.D. in the field of Rehabilitation Science. Nova Southeastern University offers a distance education Ph.D. in the field of physical therapy for those who are already practicing physical therapists. The degree program was founded with the intention of creating an additional career pathway for physical therapists to serve as educators, health care leaders, research specialists and advanced clinicians. Those holding a master's degree or higher who enter the program can complete a total of 60 credit hours in the field that include 12 hours of core courses in the fields of ethics, biostatistics and research methods and design.
