Airport Delay Management Project 1

AIRPORT DELAY MANAGEMENT

1. Feasibility Report
This project is designed for provide customer pleasure and flight company reliability. Also, it is to accelerate flight company operations such as delay handling. Nowadays the flight companies want to serve a vacation to their passengers in 100% guaranteed without delay. But this is not guaranteed because the weather conditions, aircraft faults and etc. So KTHY aims their flights to be minimal 15% delay. This type of positions shows the importance of the customer satisfaction. There is not any system to manage aircraft delay. This system can increase the demand of air transport. Because, this system is giving guarantee to minimum delay. Also this system is important for companies. Because, it can increase the number of customer for any flight, if any company has a delay at same day and same direction. The ADMS application was developed with Java programming language. Because, Java can work on all platforms. So, this application can work on all operating systems without any changes on codes and methods.

2. Operational Concept Description (OCD)

The Operational Concept Description (OCD) of the Airport Delay Management System outlines the requirements for and planned operation of a new decision support tool to improve the efficiency of aircraft operations on the airports. The OCD has a focus of operational and system requirements, and deliberately avoids design information to the extent possible. Specifications are omitted from this document since capabilities to support the SMS should evolve as a result of the research to be conducted.

2.1. Project Description

The project involves a series of upgrades to airport infrastructure, Policy and Planning objectives specifically focused on the development of the airside facilities including runways, taxiways and other aircraft operational areas by enhancing the Airport Delay Management Project 2

passenger terminal facilities and airline areas including passenger processing, security, and passenger amenities.

2.2. Organization Goals

OG1: Maintain a safe and secure operating environment. OG2: Efficiently accommodate regional, national and global demand for air service. OG3: Profit making OG4: Provide a seamless transportation system for moving users and goods through the region and across the world

2.3. Project Goals

PG1: Traffic management /ground delay management program: These are Program alerts, decision support, and analysis and collaboration tools by airport management to improve travel experience.(OG1, OG2) PG2: Be a willing and active partner in aviation related development in and around the airport that Stimulates economic and commercial development to benefit the region and enhance nonairline revenue.(OG3) PG3: Ensure passenger comfort and convenience in all plans by considering factors such as walking distances, terminal to terminal connections, amount and variety of concessions and hold room space planning.(OG4)

2.3. Key Stakeholders

Airport Staff, Customers, Government, Shareholders and Trade Union, Regulators, Suppliers.

3. System Boundary & Environment

System core has an intellicent software for manage all databases at the same time. System core is a bridge between clients and databases. This system does not allow to direct communication between client and databases. When client send a request, system core makes all operations and then it sends results to client.

4. System Capabilities
System Capabilities are listed below; SC1: User friendly for easy to use SC2: Compatible with services and different databases SC3: Reliability for the passenger information SC4: Flexible for the new module implementations SC5: Security from the attacks SC6: Sending e-mail and sms to passengers SC7: Searching and Sifting in data

Airport Delay Management Project 4

5. Project Requirements
PR1: System should search all databases and it should collect all information of flights for shifting.(SC7) PR2: System should allow to print out to inform customer about the new flight information.(SC1) PR3: If flight companies knows delay more than 2 hour before, System should send a sms for inform to customer about new flight time and flight company.(SC6) PR4: When delay occurs, system should shift costumers to partner companies which have free seats.(SC7) PR5: System should be interoperable with other systems such that database, operating system, programming language. So, this system should compatible with other systems.(SC2, SC4) PR6: System can record all transfers to other companies on own system.(SC7)

6. Scenario
ADMS (Airport Delay Management System) Customers apply to flight company support desk. Employee clicks delay button and then employee enters the customer identification number on the software. Then employee press get button for lists customer information. Then employee clicks on shift button for send customer information to system core (service). After these operations, the system starts to management service. This service connects to partner companies databases and it checks if there is any free seats in aircrafts which have same flight directions. Then, systems collect all of these informations and sort it according to flight times. It starts shift customers to other flight companies systems according to check-in time. When the system is finished all operations, it shows the new ticket information on pop-up message box.

7. Life Cycle Planning

8. System Overview
The Airport Delay Management System(ADMS) is designed for managing the flights delay. This system can access to all company databases and it has a system core(server) to make all database operations. Clients can access the Delay Management System through only one platform. This is ADMS Application. ADMS Application can work on the cross-platforms, Windows OS and Linux. ADMS Application has a simple graphical user interface. So that is user friendly.

9. Hardware Required
We are designning our system to be used with only computers.

10. Software
The target platform for our ADMS Application will be all operating systems. The ADMS Application will be written in the Java programming language.
