TERMS AND CONDITIONS


1. Only applicants below the age of 25 are eligible to apply. 2. Only students with SPM or GCE O-Level results are eligible to apply for the Merit Scholarships. 3. All scholarships are awarded at the sole discretion of the College. Applicants are not guaranteed approval of the scholarships upon fulfilling the conditions set. 4. Applicants are not eligible to apply for more than one Methodist College Kuala Lumpur scholarship, award or discount. 5. Unless stated otherwise, all scholarships are limited to the tuition fees only. 6. Scholarship applicants must have paid the application fees for admission before they can apply for a scholarship. 7. Successful applicants are required to pay the 1st semester fees in full upon acceptance of the scholarship. 8. The scholarship will be disbursed on a semester basis. 9. The 1st disbursement of the scholarship will be awarded at the beginning of the 2nd semester. 10. Any excess amount paid in the first semester will be reimbursed upon successful completion of the programme. 11. The 1st semester fees will be forfeited in the event that that the scholarship recipient withdraws from the programme, is suspended or is expelled by the College, at any point of time, before the completion of the programme. Refund of fees paid is subject to the terms and conditions as stated in the College application form/student handbook. 12. All outstanding fees are to be paid before the commencement date of the programme, failing which the scholarship awarded will be considered null and void. 13. Scholarships are not transferable or redeemable for cash. 14. Scholarships are only valid for the duration of the programme enrolled in. These scholarships do not cover any extension of the course beyond the minimum duration. 15. January intake students may use their forecast or trial examination results to apply for the Merit Scholarship. 16. Within 2 weeks of the official date of release of the SPM or O-Level results, January intake students may apply, using the designated form, for; a. Merit Scholarship (if they did not previously fullfil the scholarship requirements) b. An upgrade of their existing Merit Scholarship (if their actual results allow for a higher percentage of tuition fee waiver) 17. January intake students who are successful in their application for a Merit Scholarship or for an upgrade of their existing Merit Scholarship will have their scholarships recalculated to include the tuition fees paid for the first semester. 18. All scholarships will be reviewed at the end of every semester. 19. In order to maintain his/her existing scholarship in the subsequent semester, the student must; a. Fulfill the academic requirements as stated in the table below. b. Apply using the designated form within the stipulated deadline. c. Fulfill the conditions set under point 21 or point 22 (where applicable). If the student fails to do so, his/her scholarship will be revoked in the following semester. 20. A student who has had his/her scholarship revoked may apply for it to be reinstated in the following semester if he/she fulfills the following conditions: a. Fulfill the academic requirements as stated in the table below b. 21. All scholarship recipients are required to achieve at least 80 % attendance at Pre-U Society meetings and participate actively in the programmes organized by the College. 22. Recipients of the Pastor's Children and Methodist Church Member Scholarships are required to achieve at least 80 % attendance at meetings and the events organized by the Christian Fellowship. 23. In the event of disciplinary action being taken against a scholarship recipient, the scholarship may be revoked depending on the seriousness of the offence. 24. In the event that the scholarship recipient withdraws from the programme, is suspended or expelled by the College, at any point of time, before the completion of the programme, the scholarship shall automatically be revoked. 25. The College reserves the right to involve recipients in interviews, advertisements, photography or other publicity related activities for the purpose of promoting the College as a leading educational institution. 26. Methodist College Kuala Lumpur reserves the right to add, delete or alter any of the terms and conditions as well as the scholarship scheme at any point in time as and when it is deemed necessary.
