I. Introduction NizamsInstituteofMedicalSciencesisaStatewideUniversityasdeclared bythePresidentialOrder,1974.Theadmissionstothecoursesshallberegulatedas perA.P.EducationalInstitutions(RegulationofAdmission)Order,1974asissuedin G.O.P.No.646dated10thJuly,1979ofEducation(W)DepartmentofGovernmentof AndhraPradeshandasamendedfromtimetotime. II. Notification

ApplicationsareinvitedfromeligiblecandidatesofAndhraPradeshfor admissionintoMD/MSpostgraduatemedicalspecialtycoursesfortheyear2012. III. Eligibility a) CandidateswhohavepassedMBBSexaminationfromMedical CollegesrecognizedbyMCIandcompletedInternshipatthetimeof theirapplyingareeligible.Candidateswhowillbecompleting Internshiponorbefore31/03/2012arealsoeligibletoapply, providedtheysubmitacertificatetotheeffectthatissignedbythe Principal/Dean. b) Requirementofcompulsoryrotatinginternshipshallnotbecondoned unlessapprovedbytheMedicalCouncilofIndia(MCI).The condonationofcompulsoryrotatinginternshipshallberestrictedto theperiodupto31/03/2012andnotbeyondthatdate.The condonationcertificatefromMCImustbesubmittedalongwiththe applicationform. c) Thecandidateswhohavealreadyregisteredforanyregularorpart timecourseatNIMSandwouldliketoapplyforadmissiontoanother courseatNIMS,shallresignfromsuchTraining/courseintheInstitute 4

dulyfulfillingtheconditionsofthebondandfailuretodosowill rendertheirapplicationsforadmissionliabletoberejected. V. StatutoryReservations A. RuleofReservationforScheduledTribes,ScheduledCastesandBackward Classes(A,B,C,DandE)shallbeappliedasper100pointsroster(Rule22 ofA.P.StateandSubordinateServiceRules,1996).Consequentto allotmentoftheseatsfromrosterpoint1to24duringtheyear2011,the rosterwillberesumedfrompoint25thisyear(2012). B. i)Thereshallbe3%reservationonhorizontalbasisfordifferentlyabled (PH)withlocomotordisabilityoflowerlimbsbetween50%to70%. ii)Providedthatincaseanyseatinthis3%quotaremainsunfilledon accountofunavailabilityofcandidateswithlocomotorydisabilityoflower limbsbetween50%to70%thenanysuchunfilledseatshallbefilledup bypersonswithlocomotorydisabilityoflowerlimbsbetween40%to 50%. iii)Candidateswithlessthan40%disabilityarenoteligibleforthebenefit ofreservationunderPHcategory. iv)ThePHcertificateshouldhavebeenissued,withinthreemonths,prior tolastdateforsubmissionofapplicationforclaimingthebenefitof reservation. v)TheMedicalBoardconstitutedbytheNIMSwillexaminethese candidatesandscrutinizetheirclaimforreservationunderPHfor conformationofeligibility. C. Therosterpointsystemforstatutoryreservationsshallbefollowedby takingthetotalnumberofseatsinallthecourses. Note: i. TheseatsreservedforscheduledTribesshallbemadeavailableto ScheduledCastesandViceversa,ifqualifiedcandidatesarenot availableinthecategory. IfqualifiedcandidatesbelongingtoScheduledCastesandScheduled Tribescommunitiesarenotavailabletheleftoverseatsreservedfor themshallbetreatedasunreservedseatsandshallbefilledbythe qualifiedcandidatesfromgeneralpool. IfqualifiedcandidatesbelongingtoBackwardclassofaparticular grouparenotavailable,theleftoverseatsshallbeadjustedforthe candidatesofnextgroup.Ifqualifiedcandidatesbelongingto Backwardclassesarenotavailabletofilluptheseatsreservedfor 5

VII.

ApplicationProcedure

1. AcandidatemustsubmitbothsoftandhardcopiesoftheApplicationform. 2. It may be ensured that the 4step application process as detailed below is followed. Step 1: An account must be created by using an existing Email ID, CandidatesName,DateofBirthandaPassword.
a) EmailIDshouldbealreadyexisting,activeandshouldbevalid.EmailID

once filled cannot be changed. It may be ensured that Email ID is correctlyfilledfailingwhichnocommunicationswilloccur. b) EmailIDandPasswordwillbetheapplicantsUserNameandPassword foraccessingonlineapplicationform.IncasethePasswordisforgotten the applicant may click on Forgot Password tab and follow the procedure. c) The applicants full name should be the same as given in the secondary SchoolLeavingCertificateorequivalentexamination. d) Date of Birth should be the same as recorded in the Secondary School LeavingCertificateorequivalentexamination e) Onceregistered,theregistrationdetailscannotbechanged. 6

 Step2: AdemanddraftmaybeobtainedforRs.2,000/(Rupeestwothousandonly) in favour of the Director, Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences, payable at Hyderabad or by paying Rs.2,000/ in NIMS cash counter in person. The candidatesmustwritehis/hernameandapplicationregistrationnumberon thebacksideoftheDD/NIMScashreceipt.Applicationfeeisnonrefundable eveniftheapplicationissummarilyrejected. Step3: a) Itisimportanttoobtainadigitalcopyofapassportsizephotographora softcopyofthescannedphotographofsizenotmorethan100KB. b) Thesignatureofthecandidatemaybeinsertedinanareaof2x1on whitepaperwithblackballpointpen.Thesignatureareaof2x1may bescanned,croppedandsavedforuploadingwiththeonlineapplication. One MUST NOT UPLOAD signature in A4 size format/complete paper as this later on would result in difficulty in inserting the signature in their admitcards

c) Thedemanddraft/NIMScashreceiptalsoneedstobescannedandkept ready. Step4: a) The online application form is now filled completely after logging in to theindividualaccountofthecandidate b) Instructionsforfillingareprovidedashelptextintheonlineapplication formagainsteachitemtobefilledin. c) The passport size photograph, signature and demand draft/NIMS cash receiptneedtobeuploadedasinstructed.(Pleasenotethattheimageof DDwillnotappearinprint). 7 2

d) TheViewbuttonmaybeclickedtoseethefilledinapplicationformand foranyediting.
e) Applicant can edit the application details only before submitting the

application. Once Submit button is clicked he/she will not be able to editthedetails.Therefore,Submitbuttonshouldbeclickedonlyafter ensuringthatalltheapplicationdetailsarecorrectinallrespectsbefore thefinalandirrevocablesubmission. 3. ThefilledinApplicationformnowneedstobeprinted.Thehardcopyofthe filledinapplicationformwithallnecessarydocuments(AnnexureI)andthe DD/NIMScashreceiptshallbesubmittedinpersonorsentbyposttothe AssociateDean,AptitudeTesting,1stfloor,MilleniumBlock,NizamsInstitute ofMedicalSciences,Punjagutta,Hyderabad500082,AndhraPradeshonor before5.00PMon31122011. 4. Thefilledinapplicationsreceivedaftertheprescribeddateandtimeshallnot beconsidered.TheInstitutewillnotberesponsiblefornonreceiptof applicationsordelayinpostaltransit. 5. AnacknowledgementalongwiththeRegistrationNumberwillbesenttothe candidatebyEmailaftertheApplicationisreceived 6. Aftertheapplicationsareprocessed,candidateswillbeinformedofthe statusoftheirapplications.Ifthereisanydiscrepancyornonsubmissionof requireddocuments,candidateswillbeinformedbyemail.Theymayalso checkthestatusoftheirApplicationonlineafterloggingin.Incasethereare nodiscrepancies,hallticketswillbeissuedbythescheduleddateand candidatesmaydownloadthesame. 7. Theinservicecandidatesmustbesponsoredbytheirparentdepartment. EntranceTest

1. Theentranceexaminationiscommontoallpostgraduatecoursesandconsists of150singlebestresponsetypeMCQsandwillcoverallsubjects. 2. Anapproximatebreakupofthequestionpaperisgivenbelow:

ThesyllabusforEntranceTestshallbethatofMBBSstandardofthe UniversitiesinAndhraPradeshState. 5. Allquestionswillbeofonebest/correctresponsetypehavingfouralternatives. 6. Morethanoneanswerindicatedagainstaquestionwillbedeemedasincorrect responseandnegativemarkswillbegiven. 7. Eachanswerwithcorrectresponseshallbeawardedonemark. 8. Zeromarkwillbegivenforthequestionsnotanswered. 9. Negativemarkswillbegivenforincorrectresponse.Foreveryincorrect response0.25markwillbededucted. 10. Candidateswillreceiveoneofthefoursetsofaquestionbooklet.Thesame questionswillbearrangedindifferentorderineachset.Itisthecandidates responsibilitytodarkentheappropriatequestionbookletcodeintheOMR answersheet.CandidateshouldalsowritetheOMRanswersheetserial numberinthequestionbookletandreturnittotheinvigilatorattheendof examination.OMRanswersheetsofthecandidatesnotcomplyingwith instructionsorresortingtomalpracticeofanykindwillnotbeevaluated. 12. Theminimumpercentageofmarksforeligibilityintheentranceexamination foradmissiontopostgraduatemedicalcoursesshallbe50%forgeneral categorycandidates,45%forpersonswithlocomotorydisabilityoflowerlimbs asdefinedearlierand40%forthecandidatesbelongingtoScheduledCastes, ScheduledTribesandotherBackwardClasses. 13. Candidatesappearingforentrancetestwillnotbepaidanytraveling allowance. 14. Candidatesindulginginmalpracticeduringtheentranceexaminationwillbe disqualifiedandtheirhallticketsshallbeconfiscated.Themalpractice informationwillbeforwardedtoMedicalCouncilofIndiafornecessaryaction inadditiontoanyactiontakenbyNIMSadministration.Themarksofsuch candidateswillnotbedisplayed. 15. TheExaminationandEvaluationprocesstopostgraduateadmissionsatNIMSis totallytransparent: i. ii. Thequestionpapersaresetbyarandomcomputerselectionfrom aquestionbankthatisvalidatedbyanappointedseniorfaculty. Immediatelyaftertheexamination,thequestionpaperandthe individualperformancesasevaluatedbythecomputerizedsystem againstrightanswersarepublishedonNIMSwebsite. Candidatesaregiven48hourstolodgeanycomplaintswith regardtothequestionpaper,theanswerkeyprovidedandthe evaluationoftheindividualperformancesasperceivedbythe candidates.Allthecomplaintsareregisteredandacknowledged. ThecomplaintsarelookedintobytheFacultyappointedforthe purposewhowouldthengivetheirconsideredreportwith reasonsandreferencesfrommedicalliterature.Thereportofthe Facultyisconsideredfinalandnofurtherenquiriesare entertained. Afterthecomplaintsareresolvedthefinalevaluationofindividual candidatesalongwiththemeritlistofcandidatesispublishedon NIMSwebsite. Noindividualcorrespondencewillbeentertainedatanystage.

IX.

MethodofSelection

1. Selectionwillbemadebasedontheperformanceofthecandidatesatthe CommonEntranceTesti.e.NIMSET2012. 2 In the event of two or more candidates securing equal marks in the entrance examination, their inter se merit in the descending order shall be determined asfollows: i. Candidatescoringlessnegativemarksfollowedby ii. Candidateseniorinagewillbefollowedby iii. CandidatesecuringhigheraggregatemarksinFinalMBBSexamination (PartIandPartII). 4. Themarksobtainedbythecandidatesintheentranceexaminationandmerit listalongwiththenamesofcandidatesqualifiedforcounselingwillbe displayedonthenoticeboardoftheInstitute/website http://www.nimsexams.inonthedatespecified.Incasethecandidatefails toreportforcounselinghe/sheforfeitstherighttoadmission. 5. Candidateshavetoreportforcounselingonthedatespecifiedinperson.No requestforpostponingthedateofcounselingorrequesttoappearatan earlierdateshallbeentertained.Incase,acandidatefailstoreportfor counselingatthedateandtimespecified,he/sheforfeitstherightto admissionandtheseatshallbeofferedtothenextcandidateinthemeritlist. Thecandidatesrecommendedforprovisionaladmissionarerequiredtopay anamountofRs.10,000/(Rupeestenthousandonly)towardscounselingfee immediately.Thisamountwillbeadjustedagainsttheadmissionfeetobe paidalongwiththebalanceoftheadmissionfeetobecollectedatthetime ofadmission.Incase,thecandidatedoesnot,foranyreason,reportfor admissionbeforespecifieddatehe/shewillforfeitthecounselingfee.The counselingprocedureisdescribedatAnnexureIII. 6. Thecandidateselectedatcounselingwillbegivenaprovisionaladmission letter. X. Admission 1. Allthosecandidateswhohavebeenallottedtheseathavetopaythefeeas specifiedandsubmittheoriginalcertificatesonthedateofadmission.Allthe candidatesjoiningthepostgraduatedegreecourseshallexecuteabondand undergomedicalexaminationbyaboardconstitutedbyNIMSonorbefore thestipulateddate.Thebondshouldbeonnonjudicialstampedpaperof Rs.100/valuealongwithtwosuretiesatthetimeofadmissionasperthe formatenclosedtotheprospectusatAnnexureIVthattheyshallcomplete thecoursefailingwhichtheconditionsofthebondshallbeinvoked.The

suretiesonthebondshouldbenotbelowtherankofGazettedOfficers.The signatureofthesuretyshouldbesupportedbyseal/rubberstamp. 2. Afterthecertificatesarescrutinizedandfoundtobeinorder,thecandidate signsanagreementandhe/sheisgiventheadmissionletter.Thisistreatedas completionoftheadmissionprocess. 3. Ifanycandidatediscontinuesthecourseatanytimeorisrelievedonhis/her requestforanyreasonthefeethatispaidwillnotberefunded.Inaddition he/shehastopayapenaltyasindicatedbelow: a) Acandidatewhodiscontinuesthecourseduringadmissionperiodi.e. May1st2012toMay31st2012shallhavetopayapenaltyof Rs.1,00,000/(Rupeesonelakhonly),andstipendreceivedifanyandifa candidatediscontinuesthecourseafterclosureofadmissionsi.e.onor after1stJune,shallhavetopayapenaltyofRs.5,00,000/(Rupeesfive lakhsonly)andstipendreceivedifany. b) Afterclosureofadmissions,acandidatecanseekhis/heroriginal certificatesonfulfillingthefollowingconditions:Depositorfurnishabank guaranteeinfavouroftheinstituteforRs.1,00,000/inadditionto stipendtobereceivedfortheremainingperiodofcoursefromthedate ofseekingthecertificates. c) Thefeepaidatthetimeofcounseling/admissionisnotrefundableunder anycircumstances 4. Forcandidateswhoarepursuingstudiesandwhocannotdeposittheoriginal certificatesatthetimeofcounselinghavetobringXeroxcopiesofthe originalcertificatesdulyattestedbythecontrollingauthoritiesofthe institution.Theyshallalsoproduceacertificatefromtheinstitutionthatthey havenoobjectiontothecandidatesadmissiontothepostgraduatedegree courseandintheeventofselectionofthecandidatetothecoursehe/she shallberelievedimmediately.Failuretosubmittheabovecertificatesshall renderthecandidatesbeingineligibleforcounseling. 5. 6. Inallmattersrelatingtocounselingandadmission,thedecisionofthe Instituteshallbefinalandbindingonthecandidatesandselectioncannotbe questionedafteradmissionsareclosed. 8. InservicecandidatesofGovernmentofAndhraPradesharealsorequiredto paytheabovefee.Nonpaymentoftuitionfeewillentaildiscontinuationofthecourse. XI. Afteradmission 1.Thecoursesarefulltimecourses.Thecandidatesshallbefulltimeresident. No postgraduate is allowed to do any private practice or consultation. The tuitionfeeshallbepaidbefore5thofeverymonth.Forsuchofthosecandidates receivingstipendthe tuitionfeeshallbedeductedfromthestipend payableto them. 2.ThecandidateshallnotregisterforanyotherDegree/Diplomaandcontinue thestudiesconcurrentlywhiledoingthepresentcourse. 3.Accommodationwillbeprovidedtothecandidatestotheextentavailable onarentfixedasperrulesofInstitute.Theywillhavetonecessarilystayin theaccommodationifprovidedbytheInstitute. 4.DutiesandresponsibilitiesofResidentsjoiningMD/MScoursesshallbefixed bytheInstitutefromtimetotime.Theywillberequiredtopursuesuchworksas maybeneededinthelegitimateinterestofpatientcareinthehospital. 5.Allselectedcandidatesmustmaintainalogbookrecordingtheirdayto dayacademicactivities,whicharetobesubmittedtotheDirectorthrough properchannelonceinsixmonths. 13

6.Theselectedcandidateswillhavetosubmitthesis/researchdocumentsasper rulesofInstitutethatshallbeissuedinaccordancetotheMCIguidelines. 7.TheadmissionofeachResidentwillbesubjecttomedicalfitness.The MedicalBoardappointedbytheInstitutewilldecidethemedicalfitness.The decisionoftheMedicalBoardshallbefinal. 8.Thestudentsshallmaintainstrictdisciplineduringtheperiodofstudy/training programmeintermsofconductrulesoftheNIMS.Violationoftheconductrules willresultinthecancellationoftheadmissionofthecandidateapartfrom invokingthetermsandconditionsofthebond.Thecandidateshallnotresort toanystrikesduringtheperiodoftheirstudyinderelictionoftheirdutiesorair their views criticizing the policies of the Institute either before the print or ElectronicMediaoranywhere. 9. Candidates found to be ineligible at any stage of examination will not be permitted to appear in the examination. In an unlikely event of any ineligible candidate appearing and/or being successful in the examination the result of suchcandidateshallbecancelledand/oraredeemedtobecancelled. 10.Allthecandidatesjoiningthecourseshallworkasfulltime residentsduringtheperiodoftrainingandshallattendnotlessthan80% (eightypercent)oftheimpartedtrainingduringeachacademicyear includingassignments,assessedfulltimeresponsibilitiesandparticipation inallfacetsoftheeducationalprocess. 11.Allguidelines/instructionsissuedbyMedicalCouncilofIndiafromtimeto timewillbeapplicable. XII. Stipend/Salary 1. Stipend/salaryasfixedbytheInstitutefromtimetotimeshallbepaid. 2. Stipend/salarywillbepaidtothePostgraduatestudentswhoareregularin attendanceandshowgoodprogresseverymonth.Thetotalperiodduring whichthestudentsarepaidstipendshallnotexceed36monthsfor Postgraduatedegreecourses.Nocandidatewillbeeligibletodrawthe stipendformorethan36monthsduringhis/herentirestudyperiod. 3. InservicecandidatesservingGovernmentofAndhraPradeshandother Governmentinstitutionswillnotbepaidstipend. 4. The postgraduate degree candidates must complete the final examination within a period of 8 years from the date of admission to the course, failing whichthecandidatewillberequiredtoreregisterforPostGraduatedegree courseaftergettinghimself/herselfselectedforthecourse.
