SOCIAL WELFARE
Social Welfare is the process of Social Development through which the potential of the people is stimulated to promote effective participation in the process of social change and improvement of quality of life. The concept of Social Welfare in Pakistan is drawn from the cardinal principles of Islam based on Adl-o-Ehsan and Haqooq-ul-Ibad, making the state and society together responsible for the welfare of the people. The Constitution of Pakistan also enjoins on the state to alleviate the sufferings of all citizens irrespective of sex, caste, creed or Race. The Department of Social Welfare, Women Development & Bait-ul-Maal, Punjab carries out these functions in three sub sectors of Social Welfare, Women Development and Bait-ul-Maal Social Welfare is on the concurrent list of subjects. It is concerned with the well being and uplift of the community at large and vulnerable groups in particular. Focus of the programs is on the neglected, disadvantaged, underprivileged and exploited children, women, youth, aged, disabled, indigents, destitute, beggars, prisoners and ex-convicts etc. Social Welfare departments are built under provincial governments in Pakistan and look after the above given subjects in their respective provinces

OVERVIEW
Volunteer is someone who gives time, effort and talent to a need or cause without profiting monetarily. I started my volunteer service with the major view to help others and to contribute to the society. In addition as we were doing volunteer work in a hospital, I was very keen to learn more about the medical profession and to be the part of the team dedicated to provide quality health services. We were committed to work from 9 am to 2 pm daily, 6 days a week. I had in my mind that I will assist patients, visitors and provide clinical assistance to the hospital`s administrative offices.

SUMMING UP
The major activities which we done in the hospital were Complaints collection, Donation campaign, file work and ward visit however we also dealt with the people , tried to resolve their worries, helped them in their forms and guided them on different issues. The complaints were collected from both the wards and all the laymen sitting outside the wards and on the outskirts of the hospital. The major complaint there was about the hygienic problem in the hospital. There was no place for dumping the wastes properly and the smelly caf and wards were no place to go. The donation campaign was launched to collect the donations from the wealthy people to help the poor patients in the hospital. We made charts for that donation campaign, went to the patients who deserved and noted their particulars. All These activities provided us a new way of thinking how the things are done practically. It was really good experience of interacting directly with the people.

LESSON LEARNT
By volunteering for this service and experiencing we came close to the life we have never imagined and thus it has been one memorable experience which built a sense of trust in us that not all but at least some governmental departments are really working Except from the above this experience also opened our eyes that he ignorant these poor people are and how easy it is to fool them. Knowing this made us realize that our country is in desperate need of education and more over awareness and we set our eyes on doing something that can make these people know at least a little about these diseases and make us contribute towards the society we are a part of . These experiences also made us realize the importance of Zakat, donations and other funds we in a way came to know the real value of money the 10 rupee note we just throw away sometimes means life for these people and this shake our souls and make us commit for the betterment of the society
