IMPORTANT GUIDELINES PARTICPANTS FOR ALL EVENTS AT A-MAZE 2008

1. All selected B-schools/Universities/Colleges will be intimated individually about the

program structure.
2. The decision of the A-maze committee will be final and binding on all participants.
3. The participating students must wear their participation-badges, and adhere to
dress code/uniforms at all times during the course of the event.
4. Boarding & Lodging of National participants (Excluding Delhi & NCR) will be borne
by IIPM.
5. The winners should be aware that the responsibility of A-maze Committee is only to
ensure that the winners receive their prizes. Beyond that, A-maze Committee is not
responsible for any other Liability.
6. All prizes can be in cash/cheque or in kind of an equivalent amount
7. No student can be a part of more than one team for the same event.
8. All participants are required to carry a valid photo ID card of their institute.
9. The complete details will be provided prior to the commencement of each event.
10. Please view the respective event detail for specific guidelines.
11. Participants should report the venue at least an hour prior to the scheduled time of
each event.
CLASH OF THE TITANS - The Global Debate Challenge
Been rolling on your couch watching the fiascoes in the parliament? You believe Parliament sessions are definitely
"A" rated? Well, the scenario could be the same at AMAZE 2008 when you go all hearts out to prove your point
and win the motion in your favour as we bring to you the perfect parliamentary style debate in the Preliminary
round and the top debaters compete against each other for an even bigger challenge at the Finals.

RULES AND GUIDELINES

The debate consists of two rounds:

(a) Preliminary Round (on Day I – 12th Nov 2008) and
(b) The Final Round (on Day II – 13th Nov 2008 for the qualifiers of the Preliminary Round)

Day 1: Preliminary Round: The topic for this round would be given to the participants 2 weeks prior to the
event.
Day 2: Final Round: The topic would be given to the participants 2 weeks prior to the event.
Only the members that qualify the preliminary round will get through to the Final Round. The Final
Round will be held on Day 2

Please Note: In both rounds, the participants do not get to decide the motion they would speak for as it
entirely depends on the no. allocated to them on the day of the round by the organizers. Hence teams
have to prepare for both the motion.

Preliminary Round

1. Each team should consist of 2 members, belonging to the same institute

2. Each team will be allocated a team number, two hours before the event.
3. All teams with odd number will speak ‘For the Motion’ and teams with even numbers will speak ‘Against
the Motion’.
4. Flow of the preliminary Round:
Team with Odd Number (A) – Speaks For the motion
Team with Even Number (B) – Speaks Against the motion
Order of speaking:
Team A (Member 1) - Team B (Member 1) - Team A (Member 2) - Team B (Member 2)
5. Each team member will speak for 2 minutes. (1st buzzer-1.5 minute & final buzzer-2minutes)
6. Each team can ask the opposition team 1 question at the end of the speech of both the teams.

The short listed finalists will get through to the Debate Final Round.

Please note: All the members of a team may or may not get through to the Finals, as the individual score of
the Preliminary Round will be taken into consideration.

Final Round

1. Each finalist will be allocated a number as soon as the result of Preliminary Round is out.
2. All members with odd number will speak ‘For the Motion’ and all members with even numbers will speak
‘Against the Motion’.
3. Each member will speak for 3 minutes. The participants exceeding time limit will incur penalties. (1st
buzzer-2 Minutes & Final Buzzer-3 Minutes)
4. One question can be asked by judges/other finalists.

EL – DORADO: THE GREAT GOLD RUSH - Treasure Hunt

A treasure hunt on bikes where participants have to chase clues around NEW DELHI
to reach El-Dorado and its famed treasures.

This event aims to give you a platform to express your feelings and thoughts by
portraying a theme on your face, through a variety of colors...

We are on the look out for the next singing sensation. So if you are a singer, a performer and an
entertainer- in short 'A Rock Star' - then you might have what it takes to be the “IIPM STAR”.

1. Participants can choose from a variety of song forms like western, traditional, folk, classical,
contemporary, filmy and fusion.

(a) Elimination Round: is open to one and all, and is purely a vocal round. Kindly note that the
participants will be judged only on their voice and there will be no music provided/allowed.
(b) Final Round: Only the members that qualify the elimination round will get through to the
Final Round. The Final round consists of 3 stages.

Stage 1: All the qualifying participants have to get their karaoke/midi file CD’s and it should
have the music for the chorus and the 1st Stanza of the song, not exceeding 2 minutes 30
seconds.

Stage 2: In this stage, 6 participants will be short listed from Stage 1 of the Final round. The
participants have to get their karaoke/midi file CD. The song should necessarily be theme
based i.e. A song with a message to mankind

Stage 3: In the final stage, 2 finalists will be selected from Stage 2 of the Final round and the
choice of song will be totally at the judges’ discretion. The participants will be given 5 songs
to choose from.

BUSINESS BARONS – Business Plan
IIPM invites innovative business ideas for Business Barons – the Business Plan Contest. The event will
be held in two phases:
Phase I: Participants are required to email a soft copy of their executive summary at
amaze08@iipm.edu latest by 4th Nov’08.
Phase II: Six teams would be shortlisted in phase I. These selected teams will have to present their
business plan to a panel of judges at IIPM on the day of the event.

RULES AND GUIDELINES

1. Each team can comprise of a maximum of two members, belonging to the same institute.
2. No registration allowed on the day of the event. All entries of the executive summary
received before the stipulated deadline (i.e. by 4th November 2008) shall be considered a
registered entry.
Phase I
1. The word limit for the executive summary is 1500 words.
2. The soft copies should be typed in Microsoft Word, with 1.5 line spacing and Font Times New
Roman, Size 12.
3. The participants should furnish the following details on the cover page:
• Name of institute
• Names of team members
• Contact Numbers
• Email addresses
4. This cover page will be detached before the executive summaries are given for panel
evaluation.
5. The name(s) of the team member(s) or their institute should not appear anywhere in the body
of the paper.

THE ‘AD-GURU’- Ad Zap

Young minds, creative thoughts and fresh ideas make it to the TV screens, FM or
even the magazines. If you think you are worthy… be there and become the ‘AD
GURU’ of the world.

This is a two stage event. In the first stage participating teams will be given a topic at
the venue, on which they need to make a print ad. In the second stage they would be
given a product on which they have to make an AV commercial.

to use any other software, they need to bring their own laptops with the
desired software installed.
5. Points are awarded for concept and creativity more than technical expertise.
Teams that do not wish to use technical equipment do not stand to loose points
for the same.
