GENERAL NOTES:
a) b) Application for admission to the First Degree of the University must be made online through the Ministry of Education Higher Education Centralised Admission Systems (HECAS) website at http//www.hecas.edu.com. The closing date is 5th March 2010 Applications for admission to the Master and PhD Degree programmes of the University must be made on the prescribed Application Forms available from the Office of the Admissions Office, UNISSA or downloaded from the website http//www.unissa.edu.bn. The closing date for submission of application forms for Master Degree Programmes by Coursework and Master Degree Programmes by Coursework and Dissertation is 31st March 2011. The University will only consider application with qualifications obtained from a University / Institution / Examination Board recognised by the University Senate. Applicants must pass the security screening and medical check. Art or English as a Second Language in the Brunei-Cambridge GCE A Level is not considered as a subject for entry to the first degree programmes. Only short listed / successful candidates will be contacted. The University reserves the right to reject applications which are incomplete, received after the closing date or containing false information. For entry to the first degree programmes, only BruneiCambridge GCE A Level qualification or equivalent qualifications obtained in not more than three (3) sittings within the last 3 years will be considered, except for applicants applying under Mature Candidates category. Fulfilling the minimum entry requirement does not guarantee admission to the University programmes as admission to the programmes is competitive and subject to availability of spaces. Copy of completed application forms submitted to HECAS together with certified copies of certificates and other relevant documents must be submitted to the Admissions Section, UNISSA, before or by 7th March 2011. Applicants from serving government officer and the private sector employees must submit their copy through their respective Heads of Department / Section / Unit; or Company Manager. The programmes and the entry requirements are correct at the time of advertised, however the University reserves the right to change the entry requirements and programmes to be offered when necessary.

FIRST DEGREE PROGRAMMES


Entry Requirements
a) Applicants applying for admission to Arabic-medium degree programmes should have passed the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Ugama Brunei (STPUB) or its equivalent with an average grade Jayyid or a minimum points of 160 in 2 subjects or 200 in 3 subjects in Brunei-Cambridge GCE A Level in Arabic-medium; and the subjects should be at the minimum grade D. b) . Applicants applying for the Bachelor of al-Quran and al-Qiraat should fulfill the entry requirements of the Arabic-medium degree programmes stated above and be able to memorize 30 juz al-Quran satisfactorily. Applicants who are able to memorize 10 to 20 juz al-Quran satisfactorily may also be considered. c) Applicants with a Diploma Aliyah Qiraat al-Quran or its equivalent recognised by the Universitys Senate may also be considered for the Bachelor of al-Quran and al-Qiraat programme. d) All applicants applying for admission to Arabic-medium degree programmes who had fulfilled the entry requirements into the Arabic medium programmes have to sit for Arabic and English Language Placement tests and attend and pass a 3-months Intensive Arabic and English Language Courses.

e) Applicants applying for admission to English-medium degree programmes should have passed (i) the Primary School Religious Examination certificate (ii) a. the Brunei-Cambridge GCE A Level or its equivalent with at least a minimum points of 160 in 2 subjects or 200 in 3 subjects; and the subjects should be at the minimum grade D; or

b. the International Baccalaureate (IB) Examination with a minimum score of 28 points. (iii) at least a credit 6 both in Mathematics and in English Language at Brunei Cambridge GCEO Level or a grade C in IGCSE English or an IELTS score of 6.0, or TOEFL minimum overall score of 550. f) Applicants with Higher National Diploma (HND) may be considered, subject to fulfilling the requirements of the relevant programme. g) Applicants for LLB & BSL double degree programme should also pass General Paper (GP) subject with at least grade B in Brunei-Cambridge GCE A Level or a pass with at least grade C in another English medium subject which is considered relevant by the University.

MATURE CANDIDATES:
The University may admit an applicant to a first degree programme of the University as a mature applicant if the candidate fulfills the following conditions: a) He/she is at least 25 years of age on the date of admission to the degree programme; b) For admission to English-medium degree programmes, the applicant should have passed: (i) the Primary School Religious Examination certificate; (ii)at least 4 Brunei-Cambridge GCE O Level subjects and one Brunei-Cambridge A Level subject for English-medium programmes or has taken the Higher National Diploma (HND) in the field relevant to the degree programme to which admission is sought; (iii) at least a credit 6 in English Language at Brunei Cambridge GCEO Level or a grade C in IGCSE English or an IELTS score of 6.0, or TOEFL minimum overall score of 550; c) For admission to Arabic-medium degree programmes, the applicant: (i) (ii) should have passed 4 subjects (including Arabic language) in SPUB with grade Jayyid and STPUB Examinations with at least grade maqbul; has passed the Arabic Language Test conducted by the University

d) He/she has had not less than five (5) years working experience in areas relevant to the degree programme to which admission is being sought;

1) Applicants must have: a) the Primary School Religious Examination certificate; b) i. a degree in Shariah or Law (LLB) from any university or institution recognized by the University Senate; or ii. other first degree qualifications recognized by the University Senate, have work experience as a legal practitioner or in related areas for at least three (3) years, and have been recommended by the Head of Department where the applicants are working, may be considered. 2) All applicants who had fulfilled the entry requirements may have to sit and pass a University Admissions Test.
