Each of these riddles depicts a special meaning. They also keep readers thinking, Why is this mentioned in the story? The special phrases bring leads up to the theme, individuality. For someone to be them self, to have individuality, they must learn to break free from the pack and refer to themselves, rather as a whole. An example of this is when Equality finds the house in the uncharted forest. He begins reading books from the dishonorable times and notices the people referred to themselves as I or me.
