Before we commence todays event let me wish on behalf of FEED Merry Christmas & A Very Happy New Year . We started this semester last Friday in this very Auditorium with Ar Gemini Mehta talking about his book Rethinking Modernity - Towards Post Rational Architecture & also present his own work titled Practice as Critical Inquiry And today we at FEED are honoured to have amongst us Ar. Arvind Krishan - from New Delhi presenting his talk titled ARCHITECTURE follows the SUN & are thankful to him for accepting our invitation to speak at our forum. Welcome sir Prof. Arvind Krishan is an architect, planner and structural engineer with a Master in Architecture from University of Washington USA, Masters in Structural Engineering and Ph.D in Energy Efficient Architecture from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. He is former Dean, Head Department of Architecture and presently senior Professor Department of Architecture, School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, India .

He is a leading architect in the country in the field of Green Buildings - Climate Responsive / Energy Efficient Architecture having designed projects of diverse nature and magnitude in the country and abroad, with more than three decades of professional work. His innovative design for Punjab Energy Development Agency Office Building, Chandigarh has been awarded 5 star rating as the most energy efficient building in India by Bureau Of Energy Efficiency Govt. of India. His professional work is supported by intense research in the field of Climate Responsive/ Energy Efficient Architecture, funded through various national and international agencies like British Council, European Union, Goethe Institute Max Mueller Bhawan, Govt. Of India etc. He is an international consultant to World Bank for their projects in China & India. He has won design awards in competitions and publication awards for research work. He is a recipient of the (International award) - Jeffrey Cook Award 2010 for Desert Architecture awarded by The Cook Foundation & Desert Architecture & Urban Planning Institute the J. Blaustein Institute for Desert Research, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel . He was invited as panel member/speaker of Yale University delegation to UNFCCC COP16, World Summit on Climate Change 2010 at Cancun, Mexico. He is member of UNEP Expert group on Ecocities. He is also a member of the International Advisory Panel, UNESCO Sustainable Urban Development for Asia and the Pacific. He has lectured extensively in India and abroad. His work is widely published as books, research reports and papers through international publishers / research journals / national and international conferences. He is the author and editor of the internationally acclaimed book Climate Responsive Architecture, published by Tata McGraw-hill. The book has also been translated in Chinese , published by McGraw-hill and Chinese Architecture & Building press, for teaching and professional use in China.
