5 ways to build respect and rapport 1.

Greet students at the door at the beginning of class with a special handshake you will make with the class. It will make students feel special and important. 2. Have Share Time at the begging of the week. The students can tell you what they did for the weekend and I as the teacher can tell them what I did during the weekend (went to the movies and tell them about it.) The class will be excited to tell me what they did and will also want to hear what I have done. It will create a stronger relationship between the students and teacher. 3. Have Star post it notes and write a little note on them when a student does a good job on a project or assignment. It will make the student feel special and will now that their teacher cares for them and takes notice when they do a good job. 4. Have a Show and tell once a month. All the students and teacher will get to bring something that is important to them and will like to share with the class. It is a fun activity and the students and teacher will get to know more about each other. It is important to know you students. 5. Create an All about me mobile. The teacher will have one at the begging of the school year and will present it to the students who will then create their own. They will all get to present their own to the class and will then be hanged all around the classroom. This is an easy way for the teacher and students to get to know each other and its also a fun project and easy way to decorate the classroom with the students work.

Maria Reyes Respect and Rapport

Creating Respect and Rapport is an important part of being a teacher. Getting to know your student is probably one of the most important things when the school year starts. That will help create a positive atmosphere in the classroom between the students and teacher. According to Lee and Marlene canter one of the teacher roles and responsibilities is that they must be willing to work toward positive interactions with the students, in part be creating optimal learning environment within the classroom (Manning and Butcher pg. 48). There are many activities that a teacher can do to create this optimal learning environment these are my examples.

ALL ABOUT ME MOBILE All about me mobile is a fun project that a teacher can do at the beginning of the school year to get to know her students. It will include the students name, birthday and favorite color. This information the teacher can later use to make the students a birthday card in their favorite color. The students will then choose 4 things from a list of about me to share with the class; it can be my favorite food, band, TV show, movie, what I want to do, etc. Every student and teacher will do one and will then share it with the class. This will help the students know about the teacher and their classmates and help create a good relationship between them because they will know more about each other.
