Laissez Faire - Rules

1) GROUP DANCE- WHIRL THE WORLD 1) The theme for the dance is 'whirl the world'. Teams may interpret it in their own way. No narration or description of the dance will be allowed. 2) Maximum number of participants per team is 8. 3) Duration of the performance should not be more than 7 minutes. 4) Every team must decide its name. The team name should not reflect the name of the college. 5) Every team should have a coordinator. 6) 2 copies of the music should be provided 24 hrs before the performance. 7. No props will be provided. 8. 1 member will be allowed to assist the team. 9. The entire team has to report 3 hours before the performance.

2) Quiz
1. Each team will consist of two members. 2. Colleges can send more than one team; however, not more than two teams from one college will be allowed to proceed to the finals. 3. It will be a general quiz and no stress will be laid on a specific subject. 4. Six teams will qualify for the finals after the eliminations.

3) DEBATE
1. Each team must consist of two members. 2. Each college may be represented by a maximum of three teams. 3. Eliminations will be held in an extempore format. 4. Only the selected teams will qualify for the finals.

4) CREATIVE WRITING
1. Colleges participating may be represented by more than one participant. 2. The topics will be given to the participants on the spot.

5) J.A.M
1. Colleges may be represented by more than one participant. 2. Eliminations will be held and only six participants will proceed to the finals. 3. The topics of the J.A.M will depend on the whims and fancies of the JAMmaster!

6) WORD DUEL
1. All colleges may be represented by teams of 3 members each. 2. There is no restriction on the number of teams per college. 3. This event will consist of word games combining skill, wit and fun.

7) Face Painting
Participants are requested to carry their own paints (preferable non toxic) Time: 1hr 30 minutes. Each college may send a team of two members (Of which one of the members will have his or her face painted) There is no restriction on the number of teams representing each college.

8) Masquerade
Participants are requested to carry their own materials which may comprise of the following: Plastic masks. 2. Sand paper 3.Paints (preferably non toxic) 4.Decorative material (which includes chart/craft paper, sequins, feathers (natural/ plastic), sparkles, glitter etc. (Please note that No readymade decorations will be allowed) The Theme - Brazilian carnival Time: 2hr 30 minutes. Each team must be represented by only two members and there is no restriction on the number of teams that may represent a college. Please note that there is no registration fee for this event.

9) Drama
1. All Scripts must be submitted at theatron.sse@gmail.com by 7th December, 2011. No scripts will be accepted after this date. 2. Colleges may be represented by teams of 6 (+2) members each. 3. Four colleges will be selected to perform on-stage on the basis of the script sent to us. 3. Please ensure that the script is in English, only. 4. Kindly ensure that no profanity or derogatory contacts should be made during the performance, as it will lead to disqualification.

5. Each college will be given a time limit of 30 minutes only. This will include the time for setting up props and clearing the stage, post performance. 6. Colleges are requested to have their technical teams in the tech pit approximately 10 minutes prior to their performance. 7. Please note that failing to adhere to the time limit will result in negative marking by the judges. 8. Teams are requested to carry their own costumes and props.

10) Short-film making


1. Each film must be up to 10 minutes in length. 2. The films may be of a fictional or non fictional genre. 3. Colleges may be represented by teams comprising of a maximum of 4 participants each. 4. Participants must note that there will be a Q/A round with the judges regarding the film. 5. Colleges are requested to send their entries by the 8th of December, 2011 at : laissezfaire.tech@sse.ac.in Theme - Beyond disabilities, infinite possibilities.

11) Mock Stock


1.The Stock Market game is a platform to learn the nitty-gritty s how a stock market functions. It will allow participants to buy or sell on the equity market, modeled entirely by us (the cell members).

2.Each team starts with a capital of Rs 10 lakh and the team with the maximum capital at the end of the 6th round wins the competition. 3.The Game will have six rounds and the team with the highest capital in the last round will win the game. 4.We will distribute news sheets before each round to inform participants about the macroeconomic and business conditions prevailing for that round which will help the participants to decide on which stock to purchase or sell. 5.A 0.5 % broker's fee is charged for all transactions. For example, if you buy 100 shares of a stock at Rs10 per share, you must pay the 0.5% of Rs1000 or Rs5. 6.The game will use 25 companies currently included in the Nifty-50 and allots them a weight age proportional to their weight age in the Nifty-50. 7.All transactions are made on the basis of each round s prices as displayed on the virtual screen. 8.All buy and sell orders must be a minimum of 100 shares. 9.Teams do not have to liquidate their portfolios at the end of the Game. Winners will be determined on the basis of the equity in their portfolios at the end of the final transaction. 10.It is not necessary that the movement of prices of scrip would be in accordance with the news feed circulated in every round. 11.No participant can remain dormant in any round. A minimum of 2 transactions in each round is compulsory.

12) Photography Competition Capture.


1.Participants are requested to note that this is an individual event.

2.Please ensure that no photos of the campus are taken. 3.The themes will be announced on the day of the event. 4.Participants are requested to ensure that their memory cards are formatted before the event. 5.Participants will be allotted a time limit of Four hours for the event. 6.All photographs will be collected by the assigned supervisor. 7.Up to 2 photos can be submitted per theme. 8.Please note that no submissions will be entertained beyond the time limit provided. 9.Please note that It is not compulsory to submit photos on all 4 themes; however you must submit photos for a minimum of 2 themes. 10.No title/explanation is required for the photos. 11.Participants must abide by the rules throughout the competition or risk disqualification. 12.Themes will be judged and awarded separately.

13) Media Coverage


The topic is : Showcase the fest through 5 Photos. Rules: 1. Colleges may be represented by teams of up to 3 members. 2. Photos must be emailed by 15:00 hours on 12th December 2011 to sse.photographyclub@gmail.com 3. Teams are requested to ensure that lucid sequencing of photos is done. 4. Email subject must contain the teams name.

5. The File name of the photo must contain the team name and photo identity number. Eg: Manchester United_1.jpg 6. Teams are requested to note that a maximum of 5 photos will be accepted. 7. Photos must be submitted in jpeg or jpg format. 8. Teams are requested to note that no submissions will be entertained beyond the time limit. 9. Please ensure that no watermark is present on the submitted photos. 10. No title/explanation must be given for the photos. 11. Participants are requested to abide by the given rules in order to avoid disqualification.

14) Music Event


Colleges are requested to make note of the following events and send their participants accordingly. 1. English vocals-solo (eliminations and finals) 2. Hindi vocals-solo (eliminations and finals) 3. Indian Classical vocals-solo (eliminations and finals) 4. A Cappella max participants-10 (eliminations and finals) Please note that eliminations will be subject to the number of participants registering. Per event Finals will consist of one or two rounds.

15) Fashion Show


1. Colleges are requested to send teams comprising of a maximum of 8 participants. 2. Colleges may be represented by more than one team.

3. Please note that each round will have a time limit of 5 minutes. 4. Theme for the event: Accessorize. 5. Colleges are requested to ensure that all the outfits showcased by a team must be in one colour only (teams will be judged on how well they accessorize their outfits) 6.No vulgarity or obscene clothing. 7. Music has to be submitted in .mp3 or .wav

16) Gaming
Rules for Counter Strike on PC: 1. Each team will have 5 players. 2. First team to win 5 rounds will win the round. Time per round is 3 minutes. 3. All the stages will be knockouts. 4. Desktop and keyboard will be provided; mouse, headphones etc if needed can be brought by participants. 5. Attempt to hack or use unfair means will lead to direct disqualification of the team.

Rules for Need for Speed Most Wanted on PC: 1.Individual gaming event. 2. Every stage will have 3 races (will be played for best of 3) 3. Desktop and keyboard will be provided; mouse, headphones etc if needed can be brought by participants. 4. Attempt to hack or use unfair means will lead to direct disqualification of the team.

Rules for FIFA 2012 on XBox 360: 1. Individual gaming event. 2. Participants need to choose the teams at the time of registration which cannot be changed. 3. Every stage will have 1 match only 4. Desktop and keyboard will be provided; mouse, headphones etc if needed can be brought by participants. 5. Attempt to hack or use unfair means will lead to direct disqualification of the team. We will also have a couple of games on XBox 360 running for the whole 2 days of the fest, which the participants should feel free to use.

17) Treasure Hunt


1. Colleges are requested to send two members per team; there is no restriction to the number of participating teams per college. 2. The participants have to figure out the clues to proceed from one location to another. 3. The participants should ensure that they dont skip out any location, all the locations should be approached according to the order given. 4. The participants will not be allowed to use any mode of transportation and mobile phones during the event. 5. The team members are requested to stay together during the treasure hunt, not adhering to this will lead to disqualification on the spot.
