He served on t he New Jersey Governors Energy Task Force where they recommended aggressive but achievable renewable energy policy to the governor. Their recommendation was acc epted with a commendation and is being implemented in New Jersey and referenced across the USA. In Delaware (where he led Akwa Ibom State delegation to discuss sister state relationships with Governor Miner), he received the YMCAs Black Ach ievers Award in 2004. He is a member of the Planning Board of New Castle County with about 500,000 in population where they oversee infrastructure development approval process. H e has been a member of the News Journal Community Advisory Board where he wrote columns on energy, governance issues for Delawares largest news paper. Dr. Udo is an Obama Organizing Fellow and was a member of the Delaware for Obama Team wh ere his role included planning and coordinating vote canvassing activities in Pe nnsylvania. In 2001, he received his PhD in Urban Affairs and Public Policy from the Univers ity of Delaware. At the University of Delaware, he was affiliated with the Cente r for Energy and Environmental Policy while focusing on the trans-disciplinary p rogram of governance, planning and management of society, technology and environ ment. This experience complemented his energy management and environmental polic y education at the University of Pennsylvania where he earned his MSc; and his e lectrical engineering education at Howard University where he obtained his ME an d BSEE degrees. Dr. Udo began his utility industry and infrastructure management carrier in Nige ria prior to working as an engineer at the B.L. England Power Station in Beesley s Point, New Jersey. The plant was owned by Atlantic Electric, which was eventua lly merged into Conectiv that was subsequently acquired by Pepco Holdings Inc (P HI).
