The loss ratio improved in 2002 by 7.3 p oints to 65.9% and set the stage for even more improvement in 2003 to 57.2% for countrywide auto. I was Part of Team that created AutoOne. * Buffalo: Head NYPL operations (Auto & Home/Pkg.) and developed Adirondack Insu rance Exchange. In 2003 improved NYPL LR to 61.5 % and a combined of 99.8 % (a 1 2 point improvement).In 2004 achieved a CAY combined of 93.1 % and 88.1 % in 200 5. Significant improvement of the PL results was generated by major reunderwriti ng efforts on auto and homeowners including windstorm exposure reductions in Suf folk Co. NY. My role was that of principal driver in creation of Adirondack Insu rance Exchange and initial President of its Management Co. * Austin: Texas Regional Manager for OneBeacon's PL Expansion operations and led a team that appointed 60 agents with over 300 locations in the first year. * Web Entrepreneur/Agent eCommerce (1999-2001) * I was Co-creator of Insurance Browser Inc. and www.insurancebrowser.com. Devel oped the web content and its direct mail interaction; targeting Northeast Metro Atlanta. Developed industry contacts and support, and began writing Personal Lin es Business. * President and CEO, Southern Heritage Insurance Company (1996-1999) * Total Results Responsibility, Turn Around of Results: * CEO of a 12-year-old B++ rated small Property and Casualty Company. Major impr ovements were made to catastrophe exposure (wind/quake), as well as the overly e xposed profile to high auto liability limits. Major changes in the strategic dir ection of the company were accomplished including pricing improvements. The book of business was particularly improved on the property lines by company actions initiated in FL and LA. We achieved a modest profit, the first in several years. Introduced company to its 12th state (SC); completed system conversion for 2000 compliance; and maintained stable premium volume during a 12 month due diligenc e by the purchasers which resulted in a successful sale in 1998. In the CEO role I made all cat treaty and quota share reinsurance purchases. * Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, CNA PL Merge Business Units (1995-1996) * This position was responsible for profit or loss on $ 187 million book of busi ness written in five Midwest states and Merged CIC and CNA PL products. Special recognition was received for assistance to the Healthcare Division in the writing of Charlotte Mecklenbu rg Hospital Authority Professional Liability coverage. I also developed program for plastic roll cart manufacturers. * Personal Lines Officer SE USA, Continental Insurance Heavy Coastal Exposure (1 989-1993) * This was position of Profit or Loss on $115 M in PL premium. ROR for 1991 was 22% or after tax income of $7.9 M. The after tax income for policy years 1992 a nd 1993 was $3.8 M and $5.0 M respectively. Our business was written through 350 Independent Agents and Brokers. In a matrix management configuration this posit ion was responsible for setting underwriting policy and strategic direction for a staff in Carmel, IN, a group of 70 professional and clerical positions. This r ole involved all major exceptions of residential value or limits to be underwrit ten by me personally. In this position I also developed the underwriting require ments for the Link + package policy to be approved by the NC Rate Bureau's Prope rty Committee and the State of NC.
