OBJECTIVE: Treasury Management / Finance / Accounting SUMMARY: Twenty-five years progressive experience and responsibility in tre asury, finance, banking, risk management, and insurance. I utilized broad finan cial management expertise and strong analytical skills to improve results for di verse organizations, including SunTrust Bank and Gannett, one of the largest med ia publishing firms in the US. I'm adept at introducing solutions to cash flow, bank relationship management, bank system integration, investments, insurance a nd risk management, analysis and compliance. * Expertise includes treasury/cash management, investments, commercial paper iss uance, banking relationships, consultative selling, cash forecasting/budgeting, insurance, risk management and financing, and insurance cost budgeting/allocatio n * Domestic and International cash management including cash positioning/forecast ing * Successfully managed two disparate functions at a Fortune 300 company * Best practice reviews focusing on automation and shared services * Consistently achieved all sales and client retention goals * Policy development / Benchmark analysis * Certified Treasury Professional, Association of Financial Professionals ________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________ ACHIEVEMENTS: * Built, nurtured, and grew client relationships through cash management experti se, consultative selling strategies, problem solving skills, honesty, and abilit y to make people feel relaxed and comfortable. As a direct result, surpassed an nual sales goal each of the past five years and achieved annual goal of converti ng at least three prospects to bank clients. * Leveraged corporate treasury management/corporate finance background to consul t, design, and implement cash management systems for the Bank's Central Virginia middle market, professional and executive and municipality clients resulting in more efficient cash management systems and reduced costs. The Commonwealth of Virginia, a high value SunTrust client, could not wait for monthly bank stateme nt and reconciliations for financial standings. Worked with decision makers to analyze and identify systems solution. Established direct bank access for immed iate financial data and timelier decision-maker. * Achieved annual interest expense savings in excess of $1 million managing a $4 billion commercial paper program. Made daily interest rate and maturity decisi ons; implemented an aggressive yield curve management strategy to minimize inter est expense. * Implemented a new cash management system for more than 100 operating units res ulting is a nationwide bank consolidation, and conversion to an automated sweep system and centralized accounts payable controlled disbursement system, generati ng more than $2 million in annual savings through improved float and lower bank fees. * Initiated ongoing reviews of the operating units' cash management operations a nd consulted with local controllers, leading to the implementation of regional l ockbox systems, a centralized credit card system, and other treasury systems des

Despite market conditions, maintain ed most manuscripted coverages and minimized the premium increase relative to ot her large companies. * Proposed and set up Vermont-based captive insurance company, which generated i ncreased cash flow from accelerated tax deductions for unpaid casualty and libel losses for federal/state taxes. Annual savings exceeded $1.5 million. * Maximized interest income following divestiture of a multi-billion dollar divi sion. Gannett's Investment Portfolio was not aggressively managed.
