By Nneka Nwaneri 18/12/2011 00:00:00

President Goodluck Jonathan and Pastor Adeboye

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday urged the church to support his transformation agenda. He also asked for the backing of Nigerians in his plan to remove fuel subsidy. The President who spoke yesterday through the Minister of Labour and Productivity,Mr.Emeka Nwogwu at this years Holy Ghost Congress at the Redeemed City,Ogun State, said I am guided by biblical principles of transparency in leadership. Government is pursuing the agenda of regaining government trust in the eyes of the people through his security agenda to foster unity and peace". Jonathan pleaded with the General Overseer GO of the Redeemed Christain Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye to pray for him and thanked the church and the GO for their support during the April presidential election which he won. He said his victory was made possible through the prayers of Adeboye. Nwogwu said the president won't let Nigeria and Nigerians down as he takes every decision with them in mind. "A new thing has happened in Nigeria because your brother and friend, the president shares your vision, the minister said. Adeboye gave the theme for the first 2012 Holy Ghost Service in January,: 'A New Alter to the Lord'. He prayed for the countryand expressed optimism that Nigeria would be better and experience a new dawn. A total of 30 babies: 15 boys and 15 girls were born during the one week convention. Dignitaries at the service included the wives of the Ogun State governor, Mrs Olufunso Amosun;that of Lagos State, Dame Abimbola Fashola; and deputy governor of Lagos State,Mrs Adejoke Adefulire-Orelope, who implored religious leaders to keep praying for leaders. Also present were delegates from different parts of the world.

Judgement dayCollapse

It is not surprising that the Church of God is now used as a tool to suppress the will of the people. RCCG should know that God is not happy with the sufferings of the masses and for the church to allow itself as a voice to this government means the church is far from telling Jonathan the truth. This government is bound to fail and to say that the government got inspirations of leadership from God is sacrilegious cos I dont think God is happy with killings that is going on in the North, neither the corruption that is going on abated. I wonder why Adeboye gave a voice to this regime. It is started when Jonathan went to kneel before him for prayer. Was that humility or cheap way of legitimacy? The masses are watching!

Even though it was Pastor Adeboye who annointed (spiritually) President Jonathan ahead of the election, I think he should learn to by now distance the church and God's name from this 'elected despot' and his band of brigands. Prophet Jonathan has himself forseen a people's uprising/revolution and it will be wrong that the clergy is seen on the enemy side. Plus using God's gathering to promote subsidy removal sounds like heresy and blasphemy combined to me.

Mr Jonathan it is now politics by prayer and religion. Mr Jonathan this is not what Nigerians bargained for, when they voted for you. From all available indices and facts, you have failed woefully and abysmally. Be it security of lives and properties, the economy, infrasructures, provision of employement, the fight against corruption, name it, every thing we shold make progress with, Mr Jonathan you have scored ZERO. Barmy religion with barmy religious preachers and leaders. This chennanighan can only happen in Nigeria. I sincerely doubt if these so called religious leaders know The Almighty God or Jesus Christ. They have an over inflated and very over blown ego of themselves. The greatest pity of it all, is that they have very gullible and very vulnarable persons listenning to their bolony. What is actually wrong with our country Nigeria? Our leaders at all levels, our politics, our economy, our piorities, every thing that we need to make meaningful progress have gone YOYO and beserk.

Mr President start doing the job you were elected to do than asking every tom dick and harry to pray for you. If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Corruption is our main problem and you refuse to fight it. No amount of prayers will help you until you start fighting corruption seriously otherwise transformation agenda will just be another joke which i know it is.

Does Adeboye wants fuel subsidy removal?...

It is so sickening how religion has now been rendered a tool for playing politics and business. For God's sake, a serious minded person faces the work he does with the fear of God without running from pillar to post. Are we more religious than the advance countries in West and even The UAE. Using religion as a smokescreen for failure and inducing an army of religious bigots at a time like this is more insensitive to the plights of Nigeria. If actually the JEG actually needed this man's prayer for the election, how come they still rigged the election. Its enough time we stopped using the name of God for selfish reasons.

If the president has read the Bible very well he should learn from King Saul who was anointed king by Prophet Samuel. When this same anointed king partially disobeyed God,that anointing was replaced with an evil one and the kingdom was taken from him and given to David. If you do not want God to replace His anointing on you with that of evil and the kingdom taken from you, you had better listen to the voice of reasoning and allow this fuel subsidy to remain if there is any in the first place instead of running from one church to mosque. May God deliver Nigeria from the hands of the evil academicians and theorists.

Prayers must go with corresponding actions.Prayers only work where there is righteousness and truth.RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTS A NATION ,BUT SIN IS A REPROACH TO ANY MAN.FROGS ONLY ENJOY COOL ENVIRONMENT.GEJ SHOULD ATTEND CHURCHES WHERE HE WILL HEAR THE GOSPEL TRUTH.

Mr. President, God has given you everything you need to govern the people of Nigeria. Act now and stop from going from Church to Mosque. Do you realy love God or what you want to get form God? If your plans how good it may look are to bring untold hardship on the poor masses, and God does not permit such havoc to be rendered on the people, no amount of your prayers will change God. You are the one to change. Wishing good luck Mr. President.

Jonathan probably feels we are fools. He follows biblical principles but he is yet to declare his assets. The saddest part for me however is that Adeboye did not remind him to do so because that is the will of the people and of God!

Dear president, thank God i didnt vote for you during the last election because you never appeared to be someone that can transform Nigeria.Thank God i followed my ability to see thru Nigeria, devoid of sentiment that is killing us.Mr president you have failed us,why asking the already impoverished masses to make sacrifice you and your other thieves are not ready to make.Good you know that you have lost our trust, president that went to school without shoes.Pastor Adegboye please tell this man plain true for posterity will not forget all of you.
