January 18, 2012 Dear Sir/Madam, I have known Bogdan Gun for almost four years as his Mathematics teacher at the Mihai Viteazul National College. Our institution prides itself for being one of the best in Romania, statement certified by the astonishing results of our students at various international science Olympiads. Bogdan has been a student in our high school since 2007. His generation was the last to be admitted to secondary school through a national examination. At that point, one was assigned to a particular high school based on his grades, examination results and course options. The Romanian grading system is scaled from 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest). In this respect, Bogdan was admitted the 13th in our high school with a 9.80 average, out of a total of 280 students being admitted with the smallest average of 9.48. As Bogdans Math teacher, I had the chance to discover his outstanding intellectual potential through the close work we conducted in classes, as well as his fascinating personality that was revealed through his restless involvement in extracurricular activities. Throughout time, Bogdan constantly proved that he is animated by the will of discovery and of applying his knowledge in science on every occasion. He repeatedly took part in Mathematics contests reaching the Bucharest top 10 at his current level of study. Moreover, during classes, he succeeded in presenting brilliant solutions while solving problems, most of them beyond the common level of knowledge for his age. He participated, within the school, to a special course of intensive Mathematics, which involved introductions to differential equations in order to understand more easily the application of Mathematics to Physics. I have noticed since the beginning the calm, seriousness and balance that Bogdan uses when handling things. He is ambitious, intelligent, hard working and he is also a natural leader, always taking initiative and getting involved in most of the schools projects without neglecting his studies. Willing to perfect his command of English, Bogdan took language classes at the British Council in Bucharest and passed the Cambridge Advanced Examination with a very good score. In addition to this, I was one of the coordinators of an exchange program with a high school from the United States of America, i.e., the Shenandoah Valley Governors School during which I noticed Bogdans remarkable communication and adaptation skills. Bogdan also got involved into another exchange project with a Dutch school, Mgr. Frencken College where he put his values into work. As part of his extracurricular activities, Bogdan volunteered for associations such as Save the Children, Edelweiss, The Capital Grows Green, We Get Informed, We Become Aware and then We Protect Ourselves and Bicycle to School. He is a sociable and communicative person, and everyone enjoys his company. He is determined to help his colleagues, and can easily shift from being a valuable team member to an excellent leader, according to the circumstances. He is respectful both to teachers, but also to his colleagues. All the outlined statements bring me to the point of highly recommending Bogdan for your university. Should you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours faithfully,

Daniel Petriceanu
