Motivation
To celebrate the 21st birthday of NAMF To summarize past mixing research To provide a condensed reference for mixing researchers and students To bridge language and rebrand vision of mixing research

Selection Procedure
A group of leading researchers in mixing were asked to each select a list of most influential papers and books of their opinion. NAMF Award winners Winners of Lifetime Recognition Award of European Working Party on Mixing A few other well known researchers selected by the committee
Number of votes is used as the most important factor. The 21 contributions are listed in chronological order

1. Kolmogoroff, A. N.
- The local structure of turbulence in incompressible viscous fluid for very large Reynolds numbers, Compt. Rend. Acad. Sci. USSR, 30, 301305 (1941a). Reprint in English on Proc. R. Soc. London Ser. A, 434, 9-13, (1991). - Dissipation of energy in locally isotropic turbulence, Compt. Rend. Acad. Sci. USSR, 32, 1618 (1941b). Reprint in English on Proc. R. Soc. London Ser. A, 434, 15-17, (1991).
Observed and postulated the universality of small scales and inertial range of intermediate scales of very high Re turbulent flows. Laid foundation for equilibrium turbulent models.
