Area of use
ETO2 is an electronic controller that automatically controls ice and snow melting in the ground or, for example, in gutters. By automatically controlling the snow melting system, this results in as little impact as possible both economically and environmentally. You mount the ETO2 controller under a roof.
Product specification
Ice is formed from a combination of moisture and low temperature. The ETO2 controller records both temperature and moisture, and only starts up when these two parameters have been recorded. The following is required for ETO2 to function properly: The snow melting system is equipped with a ground sensor ETOG 55 which measures soil temperature and moisture A sensor for the supply temperature, 24V transformer A sensor for the return temperature An actuator motor 0-10V The system stops if the ground sensor (ETOG 55) should fail.

Figure 1 Connection of ground sensor ETOG 55 and temperature sensors supply and return.
ETOG 1 is selected in the first instance and is compliant in the majority of cases for the connection of the sensing element. ETOG 2 is used for specific conditions where two sensing elements are required, e.g. the north and south side of a building. Temperature sensors for supply and return are required to ensure a functioning system.

You should position the ground sensor by creating an incline towards the sensor. This is to ensure that snow melted by the heating element in the sensor runs towards the sensor. Otherwise, the sensor will mistakenly believe that the ground is snow-free as a void is formed locally around the sensor.

Settings
ETO2 is fitted with an easy-to-use programming button (turn & push) and a display that shows the current programming. This has an illuminated display which is lit by pressing in the adjustment knob. The screen turns off automatically after 30 seconds. Basic menu

be operational after the ground sensor ETOG 55 (2) has stopped transmitting, i.e. when heat is no longer required in the snow melting system. The period of operation after shut-down can be set from 0-6 hours. The system will then continue to heat for as long as it is set. OFFSET T1 0,0 C You can calibrate the temperature for zone 1 to ensure the correct temperature is displayed. With a measuring instrument you measure the exact temperature in the ground, and then adjust the temperature as recorded by ETOG 55 1. Set the measured temperature and press OK. OFFSET T2 0,0 C You can calibrate the temperature for zone 2 to ensure the correct temperature is displayed. With a measuring instrument you measure the exact temperature in the ground, and then adjust the temperature as recorded by ETOG 55 (2). Set the measured temperature and press OK. OFFSET OUT 0,0 C You can calibrate the outdoor temperature to ensure the correct temperature is displayed. With a measuring instrument you measure the exact temperature in the air , and then adjust the temperature as recorded by ETF. Set the measured temperature and press OK. MIN WATER 5,0 C Here you set the minimum water temperature for the snow melting system. Set the required return temperature and press OK. This setting can only be made when there is a hydronic system. When the temperature drops below the set value and no ice or snow (moisture) is recorded, the snow melting system starts up and runs for 1 minute. It then starts up every 15 minutes until the temperature has risen to the set value. If you do not want to maintain a constant temperature in the ground, a resistor of 10 k is mounted in the ground between terminals 29 and 30. This makes the system believe it is 10 C in the ground coil. If you do not have a glycol mixture, you must use the water minimum temperature sensor in cases where there is a risk of freezing. Its task is to maintain a minimum temperature in the system. MAX WATER 55,0 C Here you set the maximum water temperature for the
An incorrectly set sensor could lead to poor or no snow melting. Start the box by pressing the adjustment knob. Below we use Press OK when something must be confirmed by pressing the adjustment knob. Press again to bring up the first sub-menu. Select the setting you want to change.

FORCE HEAT OFF To manually turn on the heat in the system, press OK. Select ON to start manual heating. The ETO2 controller will now follow the pre-set heating program Afterrun time (for more details see AFTERRUN 1 or 2). SELECT SCALE C To manually turn on the heat in the system, press OK. Select ON to start manual heating. The ETO2 controller will now follow the pre-set heating program Afterrun time (for more details see AFTERRUN 1 or 2). SET TEMP 1 3.0 C Select if the temperature is to display in Celsius (C) or Fahrenheit (F). Select the desired temperature scale, press OK. Press OK to continue in the set-up menu. SET TEMP 2 3.0 C Set the temperature for zone 2: The maximum temperature in the ground when snow melting is to start. Set the desired temperature and press OK. AFTERRUN 1 0,30 h Here you set the time that the melting systems should be operational after the ground sensor ETOG 55 (1) has stopped transmitting, i.e. when heat is no longer required in the snow melting system. The period of operation after shut-down can be set from 0-6 hours. The system will then continue to heat for as long as it is set. AFTERRUN 2 0,30 h Here you set the time that the melting systems should
