my family, have adopted a pet and promise to care for it all through its life, and that I shall
provide my pet with shelter, medical attention, fresh air, food, water, exercise, time, respect,
love, treat it as a member of my family and stay committed to the spirit of co-existence. I am
adopting the pet for my own joy and not for gifting, it shall neither be sold or exchanged for
any consideration, nor transferred to or left with any person who may not comply with the
conditions and requisites mentioned here. The pet is being adopted only for companionship
and not for the purposes of breeding, entertainment, religious rituals or consumption.
I shall ensure it is regularly vaccinated as advised by medical experts, take it for regular
check-ups and be responsible for its good health & well being. I have understood the
benefits of vaccinating, deworming and sterlizing my pet and shall do so at the appropriate
time seek the as advise of a vet. I have been educated about the kind of diet, health care &
other basic needs of my pet, and that should the need arise, not hesitate to seek the advice
of an expert to ensure the health or life of my pet is never compromised.
I understand that taking home a pet is a responsibility for life and that I shall under no
circumstances abandon my pet, leave it uncared for or with children without adult
supervision or expose it to any kind of danger. I shall not keep my pet chained, confined in
unhealthy conditions, exposed to the tempers of nature like extreme, heat, cold or rain, and
away from hazardous materials / areas like fire crackers, gensets, motors, pump rooms,
sump, wells etc. I am aware that animal cruelty is a punishable offence under Section 11 of
the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and Section 428 of the Indian Penal Code.
I am aware that I am consciously adopting a pet of Indian origin and not one of any imported
or pedigree type.
