RECRUITMENT STEPS IN STATE BANK OF INDIA Vacancies identified. y Job description and person specification designed.

y Available vacancies are advertised. y Selection test conducted as per scheduled date. y Short listed candidates are called for final interview. y The successful candidates are being informed through a written offer. y The new joiners further attend in-house training Whenever vacancies are identified, this may arise out of promotion, retirement, VRS or for new openings. The Central recruitment and promotion department conducts the recruitment steps further for manpower acquisition.

The form of recruitment here is a centralized one. State bank Of India basically recruits through external resources. It searches for clerical cadre, probationary officers, marketing and recovery officers, management executives.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Phase- I : Written Examination -- Combined Duration 3 Hrs. (Combined Objective& Descriptive Type Tests) -- [Max marks-250 (combined)]. The duration of objective type test is 2 hours, Max. marks 200 and consist of : i) Test of English Language (Grammer, Vocabulary, Comprehension etc.) ii) Test of General Awareness, Marketing & Computers iii)Test of Data Analysis & Interpretation iv) Test of Reasoning (High Level) The duration of Descriptive type test is 1 hour, Max. marks-50 and the test is of "Test of English Language (Comprehension, short precise, letter writing & essay)"Descriptive test paper of only those candidates is evaluated who are adequately high in percentile ranking in each of all the four objective tests and have scored overall aggregate 40% and above in case of General category and aggregate 35% and above in case SC/ST/OBC/PWD category. The qualifying marks for descriptive test is also overall aggregate 40% for General category and overall aggregate 35% for SC/ ST/OBC/PWD. The merit list of written examination is based on the aggregate of the marks obtained by the candidates in Objective and Descriptive tests.

Phase-II : Group Discussion & Interview :Max Marks - 50. [GD - 20 Interview - 30] The aggregate marks of objective test and descriptive test will be arranged in descending order and the candidates who have qualified in both the written examinations will be called for group discussion and interview

depending upon the vacancies in each category, subject to maximum of 3 times of the vacancies. Final Selection The marks of group discussion and interview is put together and the candidates who secure minimum 40% marks (minimum 35% in case of SC/ST/OBC/PWD) in group discussion and interview is considered for final selection. The candidate has to pass both in Phase I & II separately. Phase I & Phase II marks will be aggregated and arranged in descending order (category wise) for candidates who have qualified in both the phases separately and depending on the vacancies, selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category. Results of the candidates who have qualified for Phase I and thereafter the list of candidates finally selected is made available on the Bank's website in addition to publication in Employment News/ Rozgar Samachar. The selection criteria for each are different. For clerical cadre - the candidates are requested to apply online through the banks website. Educational qualification Required1. Minimum 12th standard (10+2) pass or equivalent qualification there of with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PWD/XS). Or A degree from a recognized University (graduation level) with a minimum of 40% marks (35%marks for SC/ST/PWD/XS) 2. Should be able to write and speak English fluently 3. Knowledge of other Indian language will be added qualification. Age Minimum age 18 years and maximum 28 years. Application fee charged : Rs. 250/- for General and Rs. 50 /- for SC/ST/PWD/XS Way to apply: Candidates are required to go to any CBS Branch of State Bank of India and pay the amount of fees and get receipt from the branch. The candidates are

required to apply online through website www.statebankofindia.com andhttp://www.sbi.co.in/. No other means/mode of application are accepted. Salient features mentioned in the advertisements are as follows: 1. Scale of Pay : 4410-215/3-5055-335/3-6060-470/4-7940-500/3-9440560/4-11680-970/1-12650-560/1-13210 2. Emoluments : The total starting emolument of a Clerical Cadre employee payable at Metro like Mumbai will be around Rs. 8000/- per month for Graduates inclusive of D.A. and other allowances at the current rate. Allowances may vary depending upon the place of posting. The new recruits must have flair for marketing and will be required to make customer calls and provide banking services, advisory services and cross sell products etc. inside and outside Bank premises. The duties involve e extensive outdoor travelling. Depending upon requirement, there will be flexible working hours and working in shifts. 3. Nationality / Citizenship : A candidate must be either i) a Citizen of India or ii) a subject of Nepal or ii i) a subject of Bhutan or iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination/ interview conducted by the Bank but on final selection, the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.
