6TH November 2009 Father Bill Mahon, I have sent you this card to thank you so much for the $500.00 you gave me. I sent it to the group in Kenya. You are like Gods messenger to them. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and may God continue to use you and your parishioners as his messengers and light to the rest of the world. Sincerely, Zachary Otieno This is an example of how your Poor Box is being used to help the poor.

Dear Parishioners, Again this year, I repeatedly found myself in awe of the exceptional generosity of the parishioners of Our Lady of Peace. So many of you share so generously with your parish and with each other whenever and wherever there is a need. You have truly given witness to the biblical call for faith grounded in works. When our Academy and Religious Education students joined forces to respond to the recent emergency food supply request from St. Johns Soup Kitchen, you were there. A van and two carloads of food were delivered to St. Johns. The increasing need for food and household items required to serve the growing number of neighbors and friends using our Parish Food Pantry is consistently met with your generous donations. Each time we have had a special Second Collection in support of Archdiocesan programs, of the Little Sisters of the Poor, of the Retirement Fund for Religious, and of so, so many more charitable works you have been there with your prayers and with your financial support. Our new vestments, sanctuary candlesticks soon to be delivered, altar breads, sanctuary candles and other items used in celebration of liturgies have been donated by your fellow parishioners in memory of loved ones. Generous donations from Academy families funded the replacement of school building windows and the purchase and installation of Volleyball equipment at no cost to the parish. Additionally, the upgrading of the school science lab and mathematics curriculum was accomplished with generous donations from parents. Our students are most grateful to you. The school principal, teachers, and staff are most grateful to you. I am most grateful to you and to the wonderful parents whose children we have the privilege to educate. The CYO Program donated the monies to convert the auditorium/gym basketball hoop, which previously required a challenging manual effort to raise and lower, to a power operation. The CYO Program also funded the resurfacing of the auditorium/gym floor. Neither parish operating funds nor capital funds were used to accomplish the recent replacement and upgrade of our Parish Childrens Playground. Rather, this undertaking was accomplished thanks to parent fundraising initiatives, to generous financial gifts from parents and parishioners, and to a generous gift from the Knights of Columbus-Summit Council. I encourage all children of our parish to enjoy time with each other at the parish playground. As you know, we have an active parish. I assure you that our many events and undertakings run smoothly because of the tireless work of the many volunteers who stand ready to help whatever the need. Our volunteers are amazing people. Amazing also are our parish and school staffs which work tirelessly in the limelight occasionally but more often in backgroundon behalf of everyone. I know you appreciate all of them as much as I do. Particularly in light of current economic conditions, your gifts of time, talent, and treasure are truly a God-given blessing to our parish. Father Peter, Father Charlie, and I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving and pray that God will bless you and your families in a special way for your continued generosity to your parish and to those in need.

Fr. Bill

CHILDRENS LITURGY OF THE WORD

The first Sunday of each month at the 9:00 am Mass

FAMILY LITURGY
The third Sunday of each month at the 9:00 am Mass
COME WITH YOUR CHILDREN AND SHARE THE EXPERIENCE OF GODS LOVE!

These Masses are especially geared to families with young children, about ages 4 through grade 4 who will experience Gods message in Word and homily adapted for them. Recognizing the spiritual life of children, our ultimate goal is to nourish the childrens faith (and their parents faith, too) and bring all to active and authentic participation in the worship of the community. JOIN THE CHILDRENS LITURGY TEAM The planning team for CLOW (Childrens Liturgy of the Word) meets Monday, November 30 Call the Catechetical Office to confirm the time of the meeting. Lots of skills and hands are needed so please join us! We begin by sharing the up-coming Sunday Readings and discussing what we hear God saying. We then pick out the central point we want to share with the children. This is a great way not only to bring Gods Word to the children, but also to learn about Scripture, the Liturgical Seasons and to grow in faith as adults. If you would like to join us please let us know by calling Carol Skrocki, Pastoral Associate at 908-464-8156 or Joanne Fezza, lead catechist, at 908-464-6550. Also call if you have questions or prefer to meet during the day were flexible but we do need to know what works best for those interested! All adults and teens are welcomed! PRAYER FOR YOUR THANKSGIVING O Lord, in a world where many are lonely: we thank you for our friendships. In a world where many are captive, we thank you for our freedom. In a world where many are hungry, we thank you for our provisions. We pray that you will enlarge our sympathy, deepen our compassion, and give us grateful hearts. In Christs name. Amen. Terry Waite RELIGIOUS EDUCATION SESSIONS There are no religious education sessions on November 25 or November 26 as we all cook, travel and share our Thanksgiving dinners. Happy and blessed Thanksgiving to all!

A Sincere Thank You

We want to thank all those generous people who donated frozen turkeys and have given so much during the year, especially around the holidays, to our food pantry. Each time a family comes to share from our pantry, they are very grateful for your kindness and your remembrance of the needy in our area. We hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving.
