"Argument Validity CheckPoint 1"

1.-2. The annual rainfall in Californias north valley averages twenty-three inches, so the rainfall next year will be twenty-three inches. Past events do not guarantee the future events which are premise, therefore it is fallacious. Taking in consideration the how bad are the weather conditions. Whether a storm is approaching this is possibly true. 2. -3. You expect to get forty miles to the gallon in that? Why, that old wrench has a monster V8; besides, it fifty years old and need an overhaul. The vehicle has a monster V8, needs an overhaul and the fact that it is old will be the premises of the argument. The writer does not let you know if there has been work done on the vehicle, which will help it to acquire forty miles to the gallon. I will say the conclusion is probably true. 3.-4. In three of the last four presidential races, the winner of the Iowa Republican primary has not captured the Republican nomination. Therefore, the winner of the next Iowa Republican primary will not capture the Republican nomination. Again premise of past events does not guarantee the future results, therefore it is fallacious. Just because the winner of the Iowa Republican primary did not capture the Republican nomination last year does not mean that he or she will not capture the primary this year. He or She might have done their research and have gained a strategy to captivate the Republican nomination. But I believe its not likely so .I will say the conclusion is probably true.

4.-6. The number of cellular telephones has increased dramatically in each of the past few years. Therefore there will be even more of them in this coming year. Technology has advanced every year with the development of the cellular phone being small and able to communicate around the world. The cellular phones are being designed with stylish up grades. The conclusion is probably true. 5.-7. Since the graduates of Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and other Ivy League schools generally score higher on the Graduate Record Examination than students from Central State, it follows that the Ivy League schools do more toward educating their students than Central States does. Because of the premise, that graduate from Ivy League school score better on test than Central States schools. This argument could sway either way. Ivy League school enroll the highly academic achievers and the wealthy, with only the student that thrive on their high academic level taking the test the Ivy league school will continue to have the best Graduate Record Examination. I find the conclusion to be possible false. 6.-8. Michael Jackson has had more plastic surgery than anybody in California. You can bet hes had more than anybody in Connecticut! I would say that the premise that Michael Jackson had more plastic surgery than anybody in California is probably true. Really dont know how many people or if one person in Connecticut had plastic surgery. 7.-10. When liquor was banned in 1920 hospitalizations for alcoholism and related diseases plummeted; in 1933, when Prohibition was repealed, alcohol-related illnesses rose sharply again. Legalization of cocaine, heroin, and marijuana would not curb abuse of those substances. Premises that alcohol related health problems arose

when alcohol was made legal again in 1933. Alcoholism and drugs share the same tendency for addiction and abuse. Even with the drug addiction in some cases there was still the need for alcohol. With that said I would say the conclusion is probably true. 8.-11. Relax. The kids been delivering the paper for, how long? Three, four years maybe? And not once has she missed us. The, paper will be here, just wait and see. Shes just been delayed for some reason. This argument premises was based on three, four years of paper being delivered by the same person. The odds of that happen this day in time is very slim. It could have been any number of reasons why the she was late delivering the paper. Therefore the conclusion is possibly true.
