I have dream is my favorite of all speeches . Why? Because I strongly believe that good things can be achieved through peaceful means and not through violent instigations or hidden under the politics blanket. The message that is carried in Kings speech is of course utopist but what would be the world without dreamers.I have a dream is suggestive in so many ways that I can hardly think were to begin. What impressed me the most was not the messianic picture that King draws throughout his speech , although very strong , but the simple and almost humble attitude that he adopts as he delivers the message: this is where he has on his side the people that he aims to convince with his message .For it is not only the ordinary ,simple people that he delivers the message to but is the educated and cultured ones at the same time. His speech appeals to those inner values that every human being possesses, thus connecting people of different races, educational backgrounds and social statuses. He makes this invisible connection throughout the speech to prove his point. There is undoubtedly the argument that a more energetic message can mobilize the masses at some point but I truly believe that the real power lies in a peaceful message and in the magic of words. Kings words are planted in the minds of generations like seeds planted in the field. His ideological message will be carried on through generations that still struggle for racial justice. The power of his message lies in the fact that is not only trying to change laws but is trying to penetrate the minds and influence the way people perceive the black community .As one of their own , as what they should be seen ,the people next door that have same needs and rights as everybody else . His words are still powerful to this day , people are still impressed with his message even after almost 4 decades. The message delivered sounds more like a foresight of the future. He is realistic though about the present , he knows that all of the things he is preaching could be realizable only in the future . The fact that he is a man of the church works in his favor and helps him capture the crowds attention .The crowd is electrified with his words ,with his biblical metaphors .With this speech he sets a precedent and he in charges the next generations with the task of fulfilling this dream.

I have a dream sits in my opinion next to Ghandis teachings and to John Lennons song Imagine. Imagining a better world is what King suggests. He is the true lieder that Black Americans were waiting for to rescue them from the hard times they were going trough, he is the voice of all. He passes an important legacy to unborn generations, to carry on with this dream. King is aware of the long process that will have to be carried against racism , because racism will have to be fought in people minds and he is preparing the people for this psychological battle . In my opinion this message is not just for the American People, is for the whole World , there is an important lesson to be taught in all the places were is a struggle with the racist preconceptions. For the first time in the history of Black Americans a voice was able to be heard and listened to and had such impact that managed to change the way things were. Even if that voice was killed later , the legacy remains and King was turned into a mantra of his generations and the generations to come So, for me it was easy to choose a favorite from the three speeches, in fact is a favorite of all speeches of all time. If I may quote Jerry Maguire famous movie line: the speech had me at hello.
