Advantages and function of Joker-technology
Joker-technology - a cost saving innovation Each INOTEC CPS emergency lighting system can be built-up to three different supply luminaire switching modes on the same output at the same time. Luminaires with Joker high frequency electronic ballast (common standard on INOTEC-SV luminaires) or Joker switch modules, for third party electronic ballast, must be used. These components allow an easy setting of the monitoring address and luminaire mode. Advantages of the Joker - technology Simple design and engineering Reduced installation material content Cut down on installation time Higher load level for final end circuits Switching mode settable on each luminaire
The patented JOKER-technology of INOTEC reduces the design- and installation time and cuts down on material cost.
The sample pictured shows the kind of installation savings which can be achieved.
Conventional systems and installations with the switching modes maintained-, non-maintained- and switched maintained mode, require 6 final end circuits to feed 9 luminaires in a part of the building shown.
Conventional installation requires 6 final end circuits
Circuit 1
Circuit 3
Circuit4
Circuit 2
The Joker-technology reduces the number of circuits required. Our sample needs only 2 final end circuits to feed the same number of luminaires due to the fact that the operation of all switching modes on one circuit is possible. The maintained and switched maintained luminaires are active during mains presence. During mains failure, however, all luminaries, regardless of their operation mode, will be switched on and supplied by the central battery system.

TLS 5 Staircase light switching module, 5 channels The TLS 5 module allows to utilise the same push button for the control of mains- and safety-/exit luminaires. The emergency function of a certain circuit or circuits is only given, for a preset time, after pushing a button. The modules 5 channels are galvanic separated and have terminals for the push button connection and the volt free contact. Via the TLS 5 all glow-wire indication lamps with the push buttons are energised. Max. 20 (each 0,8mA) or 10 (each with 1,5mA) push buttons-indicator lamps can be connected to the respective terminals (1/1 - 5/5). Maximum cable length for the push-button line is 500m. Each potential free contact for mains lighting can be used up to 3A, 230V, 50/60 Hz. The emergency luminaires are supplied via the allocated change-over devices of the CPS-system. This is programmable in the control module of the CPS. Designing a CPS-system
The dimensioning of a CPS-central battery system can be achieved with the given table contents and the below described way in a fast and easy way. Step 1 - Select number and type of luminaires The positioning of the required luminaires on a given project drawings has given us the number of safety- and Exit-luminaires. The Exit luminaire types have been selected out of the INOTEC range (see table A / sample); for the safety luminaire we do supply 200 electronic ballasts type J-EVG 4-13W for 13W TC-DEL. Step 2 - Calculate battery current Table 1 gives IBat per luminaire which allows us to calculate the total required battery current; 14,08A in our sample. Step 3 - Define circuits and change over devices As we do not want to have more than 10 luminaires on every circuit we can define the total number required (36). But want to have the possibility to mix maintained and non-maintained on the same output and therefore use J-SU/SV 2x3A change-over modules. Step 4 - Select battery The building type and local standards define the required emergency duration (1h, 2h, 3h or 8h). With this in mind and the calculated IBat total we select the battery required. Considering specific project requirements (spare capacity / aging effect 25%) we should at least have 14,8 + 25% = 18,8A. Table 4 shows us at the 3h column that we do require a 75,3Ah battery with Imax 19,2A. Step 5 - Select charger required Table 5 gives us the number and type of charger(s) required (as per EN 50171 for recharge of 80% capacity within 12hours) for the selected battery. We have to use 7,5A. Table B our example Luminaire type Qty. SNP 1018 J/SV (8W FL) SNP 7188 J/SV (8W FL) J-EVG 4-13W fr 13W TC-DEL Charger 3 A Charger 7,5 A Over all 40 120 200 1 Load [VA] mains 8,4 8,4 14,0 1109 2587 Load [kVA] mains over all 0,34 1,01 2,80 2,59 6,73 Table A our example Luminaire type SNP 1018 J/SV (8W FL) SNP 7188 J/SV (8W FL) J-EVG 4-13W for 13W TC-DEL Over all Qty. 40 120 200 360 IBat. Step 6 - Mains load and back-up fuses Table 1 gives us the load for all luminaires which we put into Table B / sample. The charger selected we can now complete Table B / sample and calculate the complete mains load. The complete load gives us in table 6 the back-up fuse for the system (single phase supply). After completion of this data we are now in a position to select a CPS - system. Depending on the building limitations, installation preferences and space available we can choose (see pages 18 - 20) various system options with/without substations. Some possibilities are: - One CPS 220 SV/48 with 7.5A charger, 36 circuits 3A (18 modules J-SU/SV 2x3A) and 75,3Ah battery compartment - One CPS 220 SV/32 with 7.5A charger, 26 circuits 3A (13 modules J-SU/SV 2x3A) and 75,3Ah battery compartment plus one substation CPUS 220/16 with 10 circuits 3A (5 modules J-SU/SV 2x3A)
