Plugged In Online is a Focus on the Family publication designed to shine a light on the world of popular entertainment while giving families the essential tools they need to understand, navigate and impact the culture in which they live. Through our reviews, articles and discussions, we hope to spark intellectual thought, spiritual growth and a desire to follow the command of Colossians 2:8: "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ." Visit the website for entertainment reviews, read their blog, listen to podcasts, and connect with the mobile app, Facebook or Twitter.

Not of this World

Dont copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know Gods will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 (NLT)

We live in a world of unbelievable change. Rick Chromey writes, Remember 1995? Back when the web was a spiders home. Back when mail was paper and phones had cords. Back when Spam came in a can. As Christian parents in a rapidly advancing culture, we must become informed about the things that are inuencing our children. So, how do we do approach culture in a way that will produce God-honoring fruit in the lives of our kids? We can use 3-D vision: dialogue, discernment, and discipline in order to develop a biblical lter for our families. When our families experience culture, we must engage in dialogue that points our kids to Christ. We must dig into His word together in order that we might know His ways. Ask such things as, Does this song/movie/video game say anything about relationships? If so, does it line up with how God says we should treat one another? According to Philippians 4:8, we are to x our thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and worthy of praise! Does this song/movie/video game cause us to think about such things? The reason that many of our kids are making life-damaging choices is because they lack discernment. We must help our kids develop a Biblical worldview, by running our family decisions through a Biblical lter. When we teach and model discipline for our kids, they recognize evil and have strategies to escape. When we teach our children to live in this world, but not of this world, they can truly be salt and light. One additional tool that may help as we strive to have 3-D Vision is Focus on the Familys www.pluggedin.com, which offers insights about popular media. We encourage you to visit the webpage and download the mobile app. Together, lets begin thinking about what we are thinking about. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)

Kathy comes each week ready to see Jesus in the faces and actions of the 4 & 5 year olds she serves. The 2 year old teachers are sad that they have only one more week with Noah. At rst, Noah wasn't so sure about being in a different classroom than his older brother, Ethan. However, once Noah settled into the 2 year old classroom routine, he has become a quiet leader. He is among the rst to help clean-up, join his teacher on the classroom rug, and worship God with his friends! Noah is truly a joy to know! The 3 year old teachers are excited about him moving up!
