Write an essay on the role play by an educator on how to protect human lives and environment.

An educator plays an important role in protecting human lives and the environment. As stated above by (Phil Barker, 2009), an educator is a person or organisation with responsibility for developing, managing or delivering learning resources. In other words, an educator plays a very important role in educating students and developing them properly. Therefore, through the educating process an educator plays the role to educate students on how to protect human lives and environment. This can be seen through the process of teaching in schools, in schools, teachers are responsible for teaching their students about academic and also about moral. Even there is the specific subject called moral education in schools, but indirectly all teachers do teach their students moral values. And to protect human lives and environment, moral values plays an important role. Through moral values, students will not be influenced into getting themselves in social problems that may cause harm to the environment and human lives. Therefore, educators do play an important role in protecting human lives and the environment. We often hear the comment that the world we live in is in experiencing an environmental crisis. To solve this problem, the educator must create public awareness on the effect of pollution. It could be promoted through leaflets, formal and informal courses and campaign. Educators also can always pressure the authorities in charge to take strong action against people who are irresponsible or who refuse to co-operate preventing pollution. Besides, the educator should suggest to the authorities to supply the society with adequate rubbish dumps be more available for the proper disposal of waste materials. Next, is the amount of waste produced by human beings? We humans create such a lot of rubbish! Between 1992 and 2008 household waste increased by 16%.Most of this is taken away by dustmen and buried in enormous landfill sites or burned in incinerators - both of these actions can be dangerous for the environment. Is all our rubbish really rubbishes? Here comes the role of an educator to explain the real scenario. As an educator, they must be capable of explaining that, much of what we throw away could be used again. It makes sense to reuse and recycle our rubbish instead of just trying to solve the problem of where to put it. Even though rates of recycling have increased so that we recycle 35 % of our household rubbish, but we should recycle up to 80%. Therefore educator must encourage the society to practice recycling by explaining the benefits they gain through this process. Not just that, much of our waste is made up of glass, metal, plastic and paper. Our natural resources such as trees, oil, coal and aluminium are used up in enormous amounts to make these products and the resources will one day be completely used up. Therefore, we must cut down on energy use. Environmental issues are closely related to man s morality because man is the greatest destroyer of the beauty. Before I explain on the steps to be taken, I will touch one of the environmental problems that are worrying and increasing drastically. Pollution is divided into two major components. They are water pollution and air pollution. Water pollution is caused by the disposal of toxic wastes and rubbish into rivers and oceans. Toxic wastes usually come from factories processing products like food, medicine, oil, and rubber goods. Rubbish is also commonly thrown into rivers by members of the public. While air pollution caused by open burning of rubbish, smoke and gas from factories and power stations, and exhaust fumes from motor vehicles. Air pollutants

include dust, gases like hydrogen sulphide, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, fertilizer particles, residue of insecticides, particles of heavy metals and radioactive rays. The intensity of the air pollutants varies from place to place. For instance, the air in the country side is much cleaner than that in urban areas.

When it comes to protecting lives, One of the worst conditions that effect human lives is the discrimination. The most noticeable reason of discrimination is standard of living (money) and race. Higher status community looks down to all those who are poor. For example, in working place higher positioned workers who earn more do not really communicate with the blue collar workers. The racial issue is something that should not happen in this century, but it is sad to say that there is still discrimination based on skin colours. This is where educators should play a vital role to solve this problem by educating the society. Educators should provide the society with sufficient moral and religious education. One of the important moral content that needed in developing an intellect is unity. According to Oxford Dictionary 7th Edition, unity means the state of being in agreement and working together and joined together to form a unit. Educators should brief the society that through unity we can achieve a greater success. Next, educators should educate public with religious education. Educators can give example taken from the holly book of each religion where it s said that unity is very important. Therefore the society must follow their religion rules and practice the component of unity in their life. Lastly, educators must protect human rights in order to protect human life. Educators must educate the society to avoid them from being exploited by any third parties. Exploitation of human beings often happens in all countries even though many effective steps have been taken to prevent this from happening continuously. For example, exploitation happens in places like working places, shopping complex and tourist spot. In shopping complex for instance human being are exploited through selling of cheaper products in a very high price or even selling expired food by hiding the manufactured and expiry date. Therefore educators should explain what and how tore act if there are facing any of the stated situations. For example, a society can always file up a case if they have the evidence of the exploitation
