A Note from the Executive Director GLOW has expanded its presence statewide: partnered with University of California Office of the President, California Student Opportunity and Access Program (CalSOAP) sites, schools, corporations, nonprofits and scholarship providers. In addition, GLOW added two new board members and received two Stanford Board Fellows to help strategize on how to support more nonprofits and schools in order to increase college success rates for students in California. With your continued support and partnership, GLOW will help thousands of more students realize their dream of a college education. Best,

This past fall, GLOWs volunteer program was deployed at 14 of our affiliate sites, engaging volunteers with more than 1,300 students at GLOWs financial literacy workshops. In addition to our community volunteers, we engaged with corporate partners like KLA-Tencor, Silicon Valley Bank, and Tech CU by providing them with a high-impact volunteering experience through our Adopt-A-Site model. As GLOW moves forward, we are embarking on a volunteer recruitment strategy that aims to engage volunteer organizations, career centers, and local colleges and universities.
I keep volunteering and giving back to see the transformation in students to realize that they can go to colleges of their choice and there are resources to help them out. - GLOW Volunteer
Corporate Engagement
GLOW completed six months of its corporate engagement program where it partners with corporations and financial institutions to contribute human capital and social investments towards increasing college success of under-resourced students. Corporations choose to Adopt-a-Site and focus their time on a chosen nonprofit/school or employees utilize the Multi-Site model to go to sites that are convenient. By bringing together corporations community grants and employee engagement, GLOW seeks to maximize the social impact on its students.

Tech CU has partnered with GLOW to help transform the lives of under-resourced students not only in San Jose but statewide in California. Over the past six months, seven Tech CU employees have been trained as GLOW mentors and began mentoring students at Breakthrough Silicon Valley, a GLOW nonprofit partner site. Tech CU employees are helping over 40 students navigate the world of budgeting and college financing. As a valued community partner, GLOW looks forward to working with Tech CU to change the dynamics of college access and success for under-resourced communities in California.
Mentors help GLOW by providing support and experience that someone like them went through the college admissions process and graduated. - Corporate Employee
Resource Providers
1) GLOW partners with resource providers 2) GLOW reaches out to its affiliate nonprofits and schools informing them of resource opportunities for their students
4) Students obtain resources, thereby increasing their chances to attend and succeed in college
3) Affiliate nonprofits and schools reach out to their students and encourage them to apply for funding and/or resources.
Since the beginning of the school year, GLOW has forged multiple partnerships with scholarship providers to empower students statewide. Additionally, GLOW has been in communications with social policy research organizations, technology providers, and foundations in order to help further amplify our work. These new partnerships demonstrate how organizations across multiple sectors can work together towards achieving collective impact in the college access and success field. GLOWs resource partners (e.g. scholarships, IDA savings, education policy, technology, etc.) have been critical in helping GLOW achieve its mission. Each scholarship will give GLOW students the financial support and encouragement they need.
