CHAPTER-1

1.1] WHAT IS INTERNSHIP ?

An internship is a structured learning experience in a work setting that gives a student the opportunity to learn about a career interest and gain valuable knowledge and experience in a particular field. In an internship, you work just like an employee but your purpose is to receive mentorship, supervision, and training. Internships are designed to assist students in the career exploration process to determine if that career matches their interests and skills.

1.2] WHY INTERNSHIP ?

Finding work is a real challenge, especially if we don't have any experience. Yet to get experience we must first find a job. An internship is a good way to do it. It gives employers the chance to evaluate a potential employees performance for an extended period of time in real-world conditions. It also lets an employer gauge how the intern fits into the company culture, which is nearly as important as skills and experience. chance to prove the worth of your qualifications and to show that you can perform in the role we've been given.

1.3] EXPERIENCE OF INTERNSHIP : We had a good experience of doing internship and we got to know how difficult it is to
do business and how difficult it is to sell even a single rupee item. We got a chance to understand basic financial concepts, as we were into marketing of financial products, thus

we got basic financial knowledge, and also got to know the various ways to raise finance, various schemes run by government and all.

1.4] SCOPE OF STUDY :

The scope of our study was very limited as to what we had to do, and the field or segment to do marketing was also well defined such as: Our main work was to approach exporters and importers and try to generate business from them by making them aware about various financing schemes run by government.

1.5] WORKING METHODOLOGY:

The working methodology we followed is as follows: We used to go out in group of two, as formed by sir, because it was our first marketing experience and thus this would make us feel confident as we could support each other. We had all the data and the list of exporters obtained from GCCI, thus we used to filter the companies prior to moving in field, as to shortlist the companies which were either near by , or in same phase, so that we could save upon time, petrol, and work more efficiently. We had to meet any financial decision making person and then explain him who we were, what we do, and then try to get to know from them what they do and what all type of financial facilities they use, and try to take there visiting card or contact details for further use. If we found any interested client then we had to fix up a meeting between client and our Associate director, either at site or at our office. We had to report sir once or twice a week only, or as per our need. Thus this is how we worked.

1.6] SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY: The main significance of this study / internship for the sponsor was that it was a
grand marketing campaing for him, and it made its name reach more then 1000 companies across Gujarat as he had deployed more then 30 interns across Gujarat at different locations such as Ahmedabad, Baroda, Rajkot, Gandhidham, Dahod etc.

1.7] LIMITATIONS OF STUDY:

There were many constraints in front of us, from sponsor aspect, Companies aspect that we visited, due to self as well, due to climatic conditions, and even sometime certain un predicted reasons. Some of the major constraints are en listed below: Though we had a very reliable data and authentic one as well from GCCI, but some companies were there in list just because long back they had done exports, but at present contact dress have changed, and its difficult to trace them. Some companies have already entered into contracts with some or other consultants, so even if they wanted a service from us they could not turn down the contract, also because the present consultant was fulfilling there demands as well, so they had no reason to turn him down. Thus, these were the major constraints we confronted.
