STRENGTH IN THE WORD-BIBLE

1. What Is Strength 2. Types Of Strength 3. What The Bible Says About Strength 4. Why Need Strength 5. How To Gain Strength 6. Maintaining Strength

(1) WHAT IS STRENGTH? A. The power to resist forces; solidity or toughness; the quality of bodies by which they endure the application of force without breaking or yielding; in this sense opposed to frangibility as the strength of a bone, of a beam, of a wall, a rope and the like.

B. The quality or state of being strong; ability to do or to bear capacity for exertion or endurance, whether physical, intellectual, or moral; force, vigor, power as strength of body or of the arm; strength of memory, of mind or of judgment.

(2) TYPES OF STRENGTH? I always categorize strength into two (2) types namely LIMIT and ABOSLUTE Strength. Limit strength can also be called PHYSICAL Strength and Absolute strength can also be called SPIRITUAL Strength. Here let me take you further by explaining what Limit or Physical and Absolute or Spiritual Strength Is. LIMIT OR PHYSICAL STRENGTH: This is the type of strength related to bodies toughness and what the human body can do such as; body lifting, the ability to push physical things like; cars, truck, pulling a rope, breaking down walls and a beam and many more. ABSOLUTE OR SPIRITUAL STRENGTH: I call absolute strength as something spiritual because Absolute Strength is the developing both physical, in memory and in spirit. Absolute strength is the Maximal Strength. This type of strength helps one to becomes Physical, Intellectually sound, morally sound, strength of memory and in mind and judgment. Thus makes it ABSOLUTE or something that is complete. With this kind or type of strength one becomes fearless. So as CHRISTIANS thats what we need to survive. We will consider or take the ABSOLUTE type of strength into consideration.

(3)WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT STENGTH Strength is mentioned (187) times in the Old Testament. Let us have a look at some Bible Verses that talk about STRENGTH. There are many verses but we will take a look at ten (10) of it.

1. The Lord God is my strength and he will make my feet like hinds feet and he will make me to walk upon mine high places
HABAKKUK 3:19 (KJV)

9. Then he said unto them, go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portion unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
NEHEMIAH 8:10 (KJV)

10. Thy words have upholding him that was falling and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.
JOB 4:4 (KJV)

(4)WHY NEED STRENGTH Strength is highly recommended as Christians to help us in the following 1. Stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 2. Strength helps us to become fearless. 3. We become or filled with Joy of the Lord when we have an absolute strength. 4. Strength upholds us from falling. 5. When we have strength we will be able to walk upon high places. 6. We become perfect even in weakness when we have strength. 7. If we have strength in the Lord we will be able to do all things even when we are weak. 8. We can do all things through Christ when we have strength. 9. The power of Christ will rest upon us when we have strength. 10. We need Strength from God to live faithfully every day.

(5) HOW TO GAIN STRENGTH As Christians the only way to gain not just Strength but an ABSOLUTE strength is by 1. Confess our sins to the Lord: Before one can call himself a Christian he must confess his sins and become born again or new. When this is done we become new as in spirit and in mind 2. Accept Jesus Christ us our Lord and Personal Savior: Philippians 4:13 says; I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. We can never gain something from God unless we accept Christ as our Lord and savior. 3. Ask for Strength: When all the above is done then we can humbly ask God for strength that we need. The HOLY BIBLE makes us to understand in MATTHEW 7:7 that ASK and it shall be given to you, seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. ASK: Ask anything from the Lord and all closed doors will be opened. So ask Christians nothing stops us from asking for anything from our Creator. PHILIPPIANS 4:13 explains further saying; and my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. So everything we ask from the Lord he will provide.

(6) MAINTAINING STRENGTH: Maintaining Strength is very vital after gaining Strength. As Christians it is something very important to note. There is only a single way to maintain the Strength you have from God and that is by NOT departing from his WORD (BIBLE). This is because it is in his word that we can gain strength, so to maintain it, is simply not departing from that very same word that brings us strength.
