OF OVERTEMPERATURE INSIDE BOARDS (ACCORDING TO

STANDARD IEC 60890- HD 528)

When preparing boards not intended for domestic or similar uses it is necessary to check the overtemperature inside with the method specified by Standard IEC 60890 based on the formula D 05 = kd Wd0,804 where DJ05 is the overtemperature at mid height. k is the coefficient of enclosure. d is a coefficient that takes into account internal horizontal obstacles hindering air circulation. Wd is the power dissipated by the components inserted in the board. The coefficients k and d mainly depend on the dimensions, shape, type of installation and number of rows of modular devices. Experimentally, for the 46 Range boards suitable for preparing ANS type boards, GEWISS obtained the overall coefficient k- (product kd) that simplifies the verification of overtemperature at mid height reducing it to the relationship. D 05 = k Wd0,804 The Wd is the dissipated power by the components inserted in the board. Raising to the exponent 0.804 is easy to obtain with a calculator equipped with exponential function.

To determine maximum overtemperature D 1 (which for box boards with equivalent dispersion area up to 1.25 m2 occurs in the upper part of the board as shown in the figure ) multiply D 05 by factor "c" which is also predetermined by GEWISS. Distribution of overtemperature
