TELEVISION REINVENTED

Mission Bay Conference Center November 13, 2008

San Francisco, California http://Live.NewTeeVee.com www.NewTeeVee.com
WELCOME
The fall of 2008 is not the most uplifting time to hold a conference. And it’s hard not to get a little
sad about the state of the world and our wallets. But the reinvention of television is already set to
play out, and it’s pretty darn exciting. Now you can get your dose of escapism on your iPod screen,
your Hulu window, or your Internet-enabled TV exactly when and where and how you want it catered
to you. Hell, you can make it yourself.

This year’s NewTeeVee Live culminates what’s been an amazing year of progress in video creation,
distribution, and consumption. We’ll examine major themes like the shift of premium content online,
the standardization of participatory and user-friendly web video experiences, the early signs of online
video moving to the living room, the development of self-made web stars, the adoption of web video
by big name talent, and the amazing opportunities for transmedia content.

We’ll also reflect on some of the most interesting web video events of the last year, such as the
Olympics and the U.S. presidential election. And then for the big question – where is the money?
For that we’re bringing in the ad agencies to tell us what’s what, with an assist by the venture
capitalists who are keeping this whole thing going for now.

We’re so glad you could join us today. Now that the planning is over and the agenda is in motion,
we really do hope you’ll help us take it from here, by making the day one where you seek out new
connections and stimulating conversations. NewTeeVee Live is meant to be an intimate affair – one
where we’re all part of a community of web video thinkers, doers, and enthusiasts. Please do let
us know if there’s anything we can do to further that experience. And now...on with the show!

Television. It’s the best way to reach a huge audience with high-value video content. But
TV isn’t perfect: it’s live, so it’s hard to catch viewers at the right time, and it’s difficult to
