LEGACY
OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR CULTURE WEEK 2012

It is again the time of the year when the Medicine Student Council and the Culture Committee invite LU 1 to LU 7 to celebrate arts and talent in the annual Culture Week! This year, Culture Week 2012 will be having the theme LEGACY on March 79, 2012 as a kick off for MedNight on March 10, 2012. The week will revolve around the UP College of Medicine as our home how it has influenced its graduates and future doctors, honing them to become five-star physicians. Legacy will illustrate what it means to be tatak UPCM. What is UPCMs legacy in us? What is UPCMs impact in all of us? Culture week is a three-day celebration comprising of a photocontest, a short-film contest, and of course, Mediscene. All efforts will be for the chemotherapy and medicines of the patients of the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Hema-oncology.

OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR CULTURE WEEK 2012: Photography: Capture
A legacy of UPCM is to give us unforgettable and heartfelt moments with our friends, our patients, and colleagues. We invite students and the PGH community to capture a second in their lives to give us a glimpse of what we have in UPCM. The photos will be displayed during the Culture Week exhibit on March 7-9 at the Side stones, at the Science Hall during Mediscene, and during MedNight on March 10. The entries shall be published in the official Facebook fan page of Culture Week 2012 as well.

RULES:
1. The competition is open to all members of the UPCM and PGH Community except for the members of the Culture Committee and Judges. 2. An accomplished entry form should be submitted to any Culture Member on or before Feb, 24, 2012 (see attached entry form) 3. A novel and creative interpretation of LEGACY is highly encouraged. 4. Each student may submit a maximum of 2 photos, printed in 8R size. Photos can be colored, black and white and should be printed matte with a border. Printed copies should be submitted in a brown envelope with your name. 5. The picture should come with a label with its title and a one-sentence description by its photographer (FONT: Verdana, 11). 6. A high-resolution soft copy/ies of the photographs with the title and description should be emailed to cultureweek2012@gmail.com on or before the deadline (March 3, 2012) 7. Any editing program is allowed. However, major editing is discouraged. Only changing the exposure, levels, and cropping are allowed. 8. Only original entries which have never been submitted in previous contests may be entered. 9. Announcement of winners will be on the last day of Culture Week, March 9, 2012, during Mediscene. 10. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable. 11. All entries shall become and remain the property of the UP MSC Culture Committee. The council has the right to publish the entries for publicity purposes.

Short Film: Motion


A legacy of UPCM is to give us unforgettable and heartfelt moments with our friends, our patients, and colleagues. We invite students and the PGH community to capture moments in their lives to give us a glimpse of what we have in UPCM. The entries will be shown at the PGH Science Hall during Mediscene, and the winning entry during MedNight on March 10. Clips will also be shown during room-to-room publicity during Culture Week. The entries shall be published in the official Facebook fan page of Culture Week 2012 as well.

RULES:
1. The competition is open to all members of the UPCM and PGH Community except for the members of the Culture Committee and Judges. 2. An accomplished entry form should be submitted to any Culture Member on or before Feb. 24, 2012 (see attached entry form) 3. A novel and creative interpretation of LEGACY is highly encouraged. 4. Each student may only submit one 1-3 minute short film in .avi format burned in 2 CDs. The title and name of the participant should be written on the CDs. Alternatively, the file in a USB can be copied by any Culture Committee member. 5. Entries should be submitted to any Culture Committee member on or before March 3, 2012. 6. Any editing program is allowed. 7. Only original entries which have never been submitted in previous contests may be entered. 8. Announcement of winners will be on the last day of Culture Week, March 9, 2012, during Mediscene. 9. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable. 10. Theater: Mediscene
A legacy of UPCM is to give us unforgettable and heartfelt moments with our friends, our patients, and colleagues. We invite students and the PGH community to give us a picture on how we are honed to become five-star physicans in UPCM and what it takes to be tatak UPCM. Tell us a story on the joys, failures, and triumphs make us the vision of UPCM.

PRELIMINARIES
1. 2. 3. 4. Each participating class should fill out an entry form on or before Feb. 24, 2012 (see attached copy). This must be duly signed by the class president. The entry form must be submitted to any Culture Committee member with the deposit amounting to P500.00 not later than Feb. 24, 2012. Once these are accomplished, the class does not have any right to withdraw. Failure to comply forfeits the class the right to the deposit and to participate. All announcements will be relayed through the contact person indicated in the entry form.

GENERAL RULES:
1. 2. Each participating class must present a 15-30 minute one-act play. Each participating class must provide a playbill of their play on or before March 3, 2012. The poster must be 11x17inches and should be e-mailed to cultureweek2012@gmail.com. Posters will be displayed at the sidestones, published in the Facebook fanpage of Culture Week 2012, and shown during room-to-room publicities during Culture week. The classes will be given a scheduled rehearsal period in PGH Science Hall the day before the actual performance (March 8, 2012). Any other rehearsal in the said venue shall be scheduled and paid for by the class. The sequence of performance will be determined on the day of the event through random balloting. The board of judges shall have the discretion not to award any prize if, in its judgment, no meritorious entry has been submitted. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable. All winners announced on the said date are final. All entries shall become and remain the property of the UP MSC Culture Committee. The council has the right to publish the entries for publicity purposes.

1. 2. 3. The class may use any number of set pieces and may put up a backdrop if they deem it necessary. However, the use of many and big set pieces is highly discouraged. The class may use any number of props. The class should clean up all their props after the event. A fine of P1000.00 shall be issued from the class if this is not followed.

TIME CONSIDERATIONS:
1. 2. 3. Each class is given a minimum of 15 minutes and a maximum of 30 minutes to perform. A point will be deducted from the total score for every minute deviation.
