SIDS Sudden Infant Syndrome

Sudden Infant Syndrome or in other words SIDS is sudden death of an infant normally under the age of one year old. No one really knows how it happens it is still unknown. Some doctors and other researchers believe that SIDS is cause by different things some of which these are when the baby goes to sleep and doesnt wake up. It is called sleep arousal. And in come cases the baby does not build up enough carbon dioxide in the blood. There have been some really spectacular changes since 1992 when SIDS was really server doctors believe it was okay to have babies sleep on there backs and sides to reduce the risk of SIDS. Unfortunately through out the years thousands of babies have been passing away each year. For some reason SIDS affect little boys more then little girls but no one really know why. SIDS Happens mostly in the winter. There are twelve things that increase the risk of SIDS for babies Babies who sleep on there stomach Being around individuals who smoke when the baby is within the mothers womb and

having parents who smoke around baby. Having your baby sleep with the parents and not in a crib cause the risk of SIDS. Not having a supportive mattress, parents getting squashy bedding for the babies crib. Another is when the mother is having numerous babies in her womb. Example having

twins or perhaps triplets etc. Having your baby come before the due date or in other words having a premature baby.

Can activate the risk of SIDS. The parents having other children who had SIDS increase the risk of the newborn more

than likely to have SIDS.

SIDS Sudden Infant Syndrome Having a mother who is using illegal drugs or is smoking while being pregnant with her

unborn child. Having an adolescent mother Parents who dont wait the time the doctor recommends for the mother to heal up before

receiving another child again. So a small point in time between pregnancies. Not getting the prepare care or vitamins for the baby, having no parental and getting

prenatal care really late during your pregnancy. Last by not least living in deficiency situations. There are many studies that show that the twelve things I have listed show that babies who have one of these have a higher risk to be affected. Majority of SIDS deaths occur without any explanation of a warning or any symptoms. Most deaths are when the baby is sleeping and doesnt wake up. There has been many tests done over time but no one is able to confirm the cause of death. Also many people thought that there could be some signs of knowing that your baby may have SIDS but there are none. There is many of support groups for parents who have had a baby lost from SIDS or that have just gone through it. Tons of parents feel very guilty when they lose there baby, but it is not there fault it just happens. So they will need to have help getting through there lost. Because no one should take in go through it by them. There is family counseling to help parents, family and the siblings etc. There are ten helpful prevention tips Always ALWAYS ALWAYS put your baby to sleep on their backs even if it is just

for a little nap. You should never put your baby on there stomach it cause the RISK of SIDS and putting your baby on your side not recommend but it should be avoid at all cause.

SIDS Sudden Infant Syndrome You should always have your baby sleep in its own crib and never with you or with

any other siblings or sofa. Have your newborn sleep in the same room as the parents but not in the bed. Have the

crib in your bedroom. This can always help you feed your baby. Find a bed that is firm and not soft there should be no comforter. It should be pretty

plain in the crib. Room temperature should never be too scorching or too chilly you should be able to

wear light clothing to sleep. Offering your baby a pacifier when your baby is going to sleep helps reduce the risk

of SIDS. It helps the baby breathe better, if you are breastfeeding you should wait until your baby is at least one month old. And you should not use breathing monitors or things that say they can reduce the risk

of SIDS because studies have proven that they do not even work at all. NEVER smoke around your baby and try to keep your baby in a smoke free

atmosphere. BREASTFEED!!!!!! Dont give your baby honey if they are under the age of one year old it can lead to

infant botulism which relates to SIDS.
