How to apply Partner visa -309 and 100(PR visa to your spouse when you already have a PR and

settled in Australia) at minimal cost

Partner visa is very easy and can be done by you with help of VFS Australia with very nominal fees. Why pay a huge sum for the Immigration consultant? Moreover, the forms to be filled are pretty easy to fill. Following is the procedure applicable as on 23/02/2012.This may change if the immigration rules change. The following is based on what I did for my Partners visa. For best results, always have an eye on the Australian immigration website http://www.immi.gov.au - the most authentic source of information. Do not rely on assumptions. 1st: Download 309-100 checklist and the related forms: All the forms and documentation as required in the 309-100 checklist. See the latest here: http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/_pdf/309-100-checklist.pdf Click on the hyperlinks in this checklist to download latest forms- so far, only 40sp and 47sp needs to be filled (unless you have a kid or other dependents you may have to fill additional forms) Be careful - Take passport-size photographs of (45mm x 35mm) of you and your wife with white background only. Most often, VFS rejects anything other than this specified.

2nd: Additional documents: In addition to the requirements specified by checklist, these are the additional documents to be submitted. (It is always good to submit complete documentation at the initial stage, so that they dont come back and the visa process goes at its fastest pace) Marriage certificate Marriage Invitation card 2 one page personal essays handwritten and signed by you and your spouse on how you met and when you got married and how much you love each other. 10-15 photos -5 from engagement, 5 from marriage (Homa and important events), 5 from honeymoon. Make sure at the back of each photo, you have to write the details of when the photo was taken, place and the persons who are in the photo. Emails/Chat history/SMS you have exchanged prior to marriage. 3rd: Sponsor documents of for visa (Page 4 of checklist): Make sure that the sponsor(the spouse who is already having PR visa) have the following documents. The idea is to show that you have sufficient income to take care of your spouse once he/she enters Australia. 1) Pay slip 2) Bank statement 3) Notice of Assessment that you get from ATO after tax file return. 3) Any statements that show that you have sufficient money to support her when she arrive there. 4) Form 888-2 numbers of Form888 from any 2 of your friends who have PR .Ask 2 of your friends who have PR to fill form 888 and get them witnessed from either a pharmacist or doctor or teacher. They can scan that and send it to you. 4th: Approach the VFS office: With documents as specified in 1,2 and 3rd steps above, keep them in a well-organized way and approach the VFS office. Go to your nearest VFS office which can be found here: http://www.vfs-au-in.com/Contact.aspx After you Lodge: Once you lodge your application, it may take 5-6 months for the case officer to be booked. You can call the VFS office for checking the status, but I personally advice not to pester them too much .Have patience. After 3-4 months (which may differ), your spouse will get intimation by email from the

case officer who may request any additional documents (I dont think so because you have already given all the documents necessary). However he/she may call your wife and interview about your marriage. Do not change any passport details of your spouse or hand it over to anyone for any reasons till she/he gets her/his visa. All the best!
