No. We must always remember that every person has an inherent dignity. Like all other human beings, our homosexual brothers and sisters are Monday beloved children of God. As a result, the Catholic Church affirms that they Lv 19:1-2, 11-18; Mt 25:31-46 must be accepted with respect, compassion and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in this regard should be avoided (Catechism of the Tuesday Catholic Church no. 2358). Is 55:10-11; Mt 6:7-15 Clearly, the fundamental human rights of a homosexual person must be Wednesday defended, and everyone must strive to eliminate any form of unjust oppresJon 3:1-10; Lk 11:29-32 sion or violence against a homosexual person. Thursday But it is not unjust discrimination to treat different things differently. Est C:12, 14-16, 23-25; Same-sex unions are not, in fact, the same things as the union of one man Mt 7:7-12 and one woman in marriage. One type of union may ever generate children, First Friday Ez 18:21-28; Mt 5:20-26 First Saturday Dt 26:16-19; Mt 5:43-48 the other may never; one type of union respects and expresses the inherent complementarity of man and woman; the other does not. Therefore, treating one type of union as marriage and the other not, is not only permitted, but required. Indeed, it is treating this differentiation as bigotry that constitutes an injustice.
