COLLEGE OF MANAGEMENT/ENGINEERING STUDIES UNIVERSITY OF PETROLEUM & ENERGY STUDIES DEHRADUN

COURSE PLAN
LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Elementary concepts of Mathematics OBJECTIVES: -

The objectives of this course are:

The study of Mathematical courses generally followed in technical universities/colleges of the country is to get an in-depth study of other subjects. The knowledge of Laplace Transforms has become an essential part of mathematical background widely used by engineers and scientists. This is because the transform methods provide an easy and effective means for solution of many problems arising in engineering and science. Differential equations are of fundamental importance in engineering mathematics because many physical laws and relations appear mathematically in the form of such equations. Modern mathematical statistics has various engineering applications, for instance in testing materials, performance tests of systems, robotics and automatization in general, control of production processes, and so on.

THE SYLLABUS:
Unit 1: Integral Transforms Unit 2: Vectors Unit 3: Ordinary Differential Equations Unit 4: Statistics PEDAGOGY Class Test Quiz Assignments Tutorials

EVALUATION CRITERIA ASSIGNMENTS : 30% MID-TERM EXAMINATION : 20% FINAL-TERM EXAMINATION : 50% COURSE REQUIREMENTS: We would be using numerical illustrations and questions, so as to apply the methods and techniques in business problems. Needless, to mention that students classroom participation will add value to their overall evaluation.
