Book of Tawheed: Summary Part 1 of Book: Chapter 1: Perversion in Human Life Man and Jin made to Worship Allah

Tawheed = Oneness of Allah Islam true faith since Prophet Adam (as) Polytheism and doctrinal perversion began under people of Noah (Worshipped 5 good men: Waddan, Suwa'an, Yaghutha, Ya'auga, Nasran) People Muslims during Period between Adam and Noah (1000 years) People Differing over deen, and thus changing it, is why there are prophets Amr b. Lahi brought idols into Arabian Peninsula (WORST GUY) Muhammad sent to end all the Shirk, and did so, but it still continued after Chapter 2: The Shirk: Its Definition and Types Shirk is ascribing a partner to Allah in terms of his Ruboobiya (Creator and Sustainer) and Uloohiyya (Divinity). Common type of Shirk=Shirk of Divinity (supplicate or sacrifice to others) Shirk is the GREATEST of Sins (Cancels all deeds and bans from heaven) Opposite of Shirk=Tawheed Two Types of Shirk: 1. Greater Shirk (Completely worship someone other than Allah I.e. idols etc)-Causes Apostasy 1. Lesser Shirk (Act like Mushrikeen-Not sincere to Allah but do not go out of way to idol worshipper) -doesnt cause apostasy Two Types of Lesser Shirk: 1. 1. Obvious: Swares by other than Allah (ex. Sware on my mom) Hidden Shirk: Wrong Intentions (Pray and give Charity for Reputation) Allah alone wills everything (so dont do Voodoo stuff like wear rings for strength etc) The Greater Shirk justifies violating blood and property, while the lesser Shirk doesnt Chapter 3: Infidelity-Its Definition and Types Kufr-Linguistically=Covering or Concealing (Opposite of Iman) Kufr-Disbelieving in Allah and Messenger from the Beginning (Covers/Denies Truth)

Two Types of Kufr: 1. Major Kufr (Constitutes Apostasy)

Made of Five Parts: I) Denial-Denies Religion II) Arrogance--Arrogance leads to Denial of Religion III) Doubtfulness-Doubt Religion IV) Aversion-Dislike Religion V) Hypocrisy-Do not act with Religion DADAH 2) Minor Kufr (No Apostasy but Dangerous) Minor Sins listed in Quran & Sunna that Kafrs make (ex: Fighting w/ Muslim brothers) Chapter 4: Nifaq (Hypocrisy)-Definition and Types Nifaq Linguistic Definition: Hole/Tunnel that rats run through Legal Def: Insincere Love of Islam while conceling true intentions of Evil and Kufr Two Types of Hypocrisy: 1. Doctrinal Hypocrisy (Hypocrisy of Action)--Major Hypocrisy=Apostasy

Made up of 6 I) Denies Messenger II) Denies Messengers Message III) Hates Messenger IV) Hating Messengers Message V) Happy When Islam Falls VI) Hates When Islam Prevails 2) Practical Hypocrisy (Hypocrisy of Belief)--Minor Hypocrisy-No Apostasy Made up of Four 1.

Part 2 of Book: Chapter 1: Claiming the knowledge of the Unseen, etc No One knows the Unseen but Allah swt (to believe in it is bad=shirk) Jinn and Devils sometimes help these so called fortune ppl Jinn would eavesdrop on Convos by the Angels to tell fortunes--accord. To taymiyya. People with Weak Imans follow this Chapter 2: Sorcery, Divination, and Soothsaying All are Haram=Shirk Sorcery involves Shirk in Two Aspects: 1) Involves seeking help from other than Allah (Satans) 2) Connotates claim of knowing the unseen or invisible (which only Allah knows) Soothsaying & etc. is Shirk of Ruboobiya (for you claim to share knowledge like god) Chapter 3: Making Offerigns, Vows, Visiting Graves, Etc. Beware of Excess for excess destroyed the people before you. Ahmed and others Prophet PBUH allowed visiting graves (to remind ppl of death) but warned ppl of it Prophet M. pbuh made it clear not to build things on graves or worship them Prophet feared that Graves would be turned into Masjids (including his own)

Prophet pbuh said Oh Allah! Let not my grave be turned into a worship idol. Malik Chapter 4: Ruling on revering Commemorative Statues, monuments, and idols Prophet pbuh warned against sketching or making pics of living creatures (Animal or Human). Prophet pbuh also forbade such pics on walls and making commemorative statues etc Commemorative Objects like Statues etc turned into Items of Worship (so their illegal) Chapter 5: Ruling on Division of Faith and disrespecting its inviolable Making Joke or Mockery of God, his message, and or Messenger=Kafr Those who mock teachings of God and messengers also are Kafr Derision/Mockery of two Kinds: 1) Out Loud- Say it to your face 2) Hidden-Wink of the Eye, Stick out Tongue Chapter 6: Ruling by other than what Allah Revealed Requirement to Believe in Allah by Submitting to his judgement and LAWS Seek judgment with Allah and his rules not with your own Rulers who do not rule by what Allah has revealed are disbelievers Christians made mistakes by Accepting their Rabbis Rules repeatedly (taking them as Gods) Always rule by which Allah has given Laws to Chapter 7: Claiming the Right of Legislation, Legalization, and Illegalization Legislatings Rulings for everyone in All Affairs is Right to Allah He who accepts a Law other than by Allah ascribes a partner to him (makes shirk) Right of Legalizing and illegalizing is soley right of ALLAH We can make laws and stuff, as long as They dont contradict Allahs teachings Chapter 8: Ruling on Joining Parties and Sects Haram to Join Parties and Sects that have contradicting teachings to Islam We can vote if there is a benefit All Muslims are Equal (REGARDLESS OF NATIONALITY) Chapter 9: Materialism Theory of Life and its Malicious Effects Materialism Theory-Restricting Mans mind to accomplish pleasures Allah made the life of this world as a farm for the world to come

Materialism in this life is bad, distracts from hereafter All is given to Us by Allah in this life, thus we have responsibility for it Do not be envious of other Wealth, for hereafter is our goal (not wealth) Chapter 10: Charms and Amulets Dont wear them (for sake of getting something that only God can give I.e. power etc) Charms are of two kinds: 1) With No Shirk-I.e. recite Quran on Sick or make Dua in Arabic 2) With Shirk-Names of Jinn, things other than Allah swt etc Charms ok under three conditions: I) Include words of God and Names of God II) In Arabic III) Person with Charm believes in Power of Allah to change, not ritual Amulets: Of Two Kinds: With Quran and Names of Allah on it (Permissablity is debated) With bones, beads, etc to protect the individual (HARAM) -Only Allah can Protect, Give, etc (not amulets) Chapter 11: The Ruling on Swearing and Seeking access by other than Allah Can only swear by Allah and no one else (doing so constitutes shirk) Do not lie when swearing to Allah and dont Swear on Allah excessively Tawassul=seeking means of access to becoming closer to Allah Tawassul is of Two Categories: 1) Legitimate Tawassul Made up of six kinds I) Appealing to his Names/Attributes II) Through Good Deeds III) Declaring Oneness of God IV) Expresses need of Allah V) Supplication to Allah

VI) Admitting Ones Own Sins 2) Illegitimate Tawassul -Seeking Nearness of Allah through Means other than Himself swt I) Supplicating the Dead II) Supplicating to the Prophet Etc. Istianah-seeking the help and support in certain things Istighathah- seeking relief, or the removal of difficulties Two kinds of these: Asking from other creatures what they can do (I.e. Get me Ice-cream ) Asking to Allah only what he can do (I.e. Forgive my sins) Part 3 of Book: Chapter 1: Love and Praise the Prophet Love and Praise the Prophet Love Allah more, and Muhammad more than yourself, and send him Salutations (sas) Love the Sahaba (they are humans too, but they are better than us) Never Praise Excessively Chapter 2: Obeying and Emulating the Prophet Every Muslim must follow the Way (Sunna) of the Prophe Muhammad pbuh He who turns away from my sunnah does not belong to me (agreed upon) We must supplicate the prophet to render him safe from evil We get 10 deeds when reciting it inshallah Chapter 3: We make salutations to the Prophets family as well (Muslim believer members) His family takes no charity Chapter 4: Sahaba To be a Sahaba you need to fulfill 3 requirements: I) Met the Prophet Muhammad pbuh II) Believed in Him III) Died a Muslim

The were a blessed and chosen People Humans (made mistakes) but Deeds overwhelmed bad deeds inshallah Refrain from researching the affliction and dispute of the Sahaba (remember the good things) Challenge all challenges against these amazing people They are humans, thus, we actually have hope to reach their levels Chapter 6: Prohibitions of Abusing Companions and Imams of Guidance Dont Abuse Companions or Imams of Guidance! Those who can help us be better Muslims, we should follow (not abuse) Part 4 of Book: Chapter 1: Bidah Bidah-Innovation Ibtida (innovation) comes in two categories: 1) Terms of Customs-modern Innovations (LAWFUL) 2) Religious Innovation (UNLAWFUL) Two Levels of Bidah: Verbal (saying diff/new things) and Practical (worshiping in new ways) Bidah is Bad News: Leads to more Haram and strays us from the path of the perfect Religion.
