This study was intended to develop and validate the researcher-made Computer-Assisted Instruction Module (CAIM) that serves as a tool in in

teaching Electronic Spreadsheet, one of the three Office Applications Microsoft Office Suite taught in the

subject Information Communication

Technology (ICT) at University of Makati. The intention was not to replace the teacher but to enhance their teaching styles and techniques. This study made use of descriptive method with the survey questionnaire as an instrument in gathering data. The respondents of the study were the college freshmen of the College Computer Science (CCS) of UMak Communication Technology (ICT) and who have taken the subject Information the faculty of Software department of

CCS. For the student-respondents group, 60 or 67% are enrolled in four-year

program who are taking the courses Bachelor of Science in Computer Science major in Application Development while the rest are taking up Bachelor of Science in Network Administration. 30% of the group belong to two-year

program and were enrolled in the course Associate in Multimedia Application Technology. Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions: (1) What is the profile of the student-respondents in terms of program and grade in ICT?; (2) What is the profile of the faculty-respondents in terms number of years in teaching ICT and of educational attainment?; (3) What is the student-

respondents evaluation on the developed CAI module for Electronic Spreadsheet in terms of content, design and presentation?; (4) What is the faculty-respondents evaluation on the developed CAI module for Electronic Spreadsheet in terms of content, design and presentation?; (5) Is there a for

significant difference in the evaluation of the developed CAI module

Electronic Spreadsheet between the two groups of respondents in terms of content, design, and presentation? The statistical method and treatment used were the frequency, percentage, standard deviation, mean and t-test. The findings revealed that the evaluation of the two groups of respondents in terms of content, design and presentation is excellent. It

implies that the developed CAIM for Electronic Spreadsheet is appealing to them. It is attributed to the keen interest of both group of respondents in using the new trend of educational technology.

Among the three categories, presentation obtained the highest rate on the student-respondents evaluation. The data reveals the findings of Scott (2000) that the principle of constructing a computer-based module is not only dependent on design and content. Presentation of the lesson have great impact to the learners. Therefore, presentation of the lesson needs to be taken into consideration in motivating the learners.

Finally, the result of the investigation came up with the finding that there is a significant difference in the evaluation of the two groups of respondents in terms of design. It appears in the study that there is a gap in the evaluation between the two groups of respondents in terms of design which means to a high-positive evaluation of the faculty-respondents. This is attributed to the faculty-respondents (experts) higher level of

understanding pertaining to the design of a good CAI material. Their exposure in teaching multimedia software and their experience in

designing an educational courseware would attribute to this matter. The researcher recommended that further enhancement of CAI should be done to suit all level of learning. Likewise, another research

should be conducted by taking into consideration the other aspects of CAI evaluation. The researcher also recommended that since the CAI module for Electronic Spreadsheet had been evaluated and validated to be an excellent CAI material, it can be used by the professors/instructors for instruction likewise, a study on its effectiveness on learning is suggested.
