Shaping the World of 2050:

the Entrepreneurial Impact
3-6 November 2010, Lyon, France

Mission

Vision

Traditional international organisations are not equipped to face these challenges, being stuck between national interests, bureaucratic burdens or lack of resources. Entrepreneurs can be pivotal in addressing these challenges. On a daily basis, they transform challenges into opportunities. Centred on innovation, risk-taking, creativity, as well as pragmatism, they are able to create wealth and social justice through products, services and sustainable organisations. The world needs more entrepreneurs.

Activities

Our world is facing new and unprecedented challenges, affecting human beings regardless of their country or origin.

The World Entrepreneurship Forum is an international community of entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs, politicians and academics committed to making the world a better place. The Forum fosters entrepreneurship worldwide in order to create wealth and social justice; The Forum encourages all forms of entrepreneurship, integrating economic and social objectives; The Forum mobilises entrepreneurs of all kinds, willing to address our worlds challenges with an entrepreneurial approach.

The World Entrepreneurship Forum focuses its reflections on our world issues, identifying best practices and innovative solutions implemented by entrepreneurs. It organises an Annual Meeting aimed at gathering members from all over the world to share their entrepreneurial experience, come up with recommendations, and implement common actions. Members meet during think-tank sessions, share their experience with a larger audience through Public Workshops; and recognise outstanding international personalities with the Entrepreneur for the World Award. On the regional scale, World Entrepreneurship Centres contribute to the global reflection and actions implemented by the World Entrepreneurship Forum.

Shaping the world of 2050: the entrepreneurial impact

The best way to prepare the future is to invent it. Alan Kay, Scientist
The 1st edition of the World Entrepreneurship Forum in 2008 was pivotal in defining guidelines aimed at supporting the promotion of entrepreneurial spirit worldwide. During the 2nd edition, governments actions to support entrepreneurship have been screened and selected; and members now benefit from a lobbying tool with the Forum White Paper Encouraging commercial and social entrepreneurship: what can governments do?. For the 3rd edition in 2010, the focus is to design innovative and entrepreneurial solutions to address some of our worlds most pressing challenges at the horizon 2050. 4 major topics will be discussed in the 2010 Forum and will lead to a set of concrete proposals of actions: Creating growth for all: how can entrepreneurs develop innovative, high-growth organisations? Empowering the Base of The Pyramid: how can we support the Base of the Pyramid to become more entrepreneurial? Adapting to massive urbanisation issues: how can we make our cities more entrepreneurial? Educating entrepreneurs: what kind of programmes/initiatives/actions can we imagine and implement in order to promote entrepreneurial behaviours from an early age?
