RESPECT
Without teaching respect for God and His standards, a child cannot come to the point of salvation or make wise life choices. Genesis 1:1 Creation is a childs introduction to God and the rst step in understanding the need to respect Him for His awesomeness and authority. Because He is our Creator, He has the authority over us and deserves our respect. Psalm 147:5 Gods knowledge and understanding go on and on forever. God knows so much more than you or I know. Because He knows everything, He has authority over us and deserves our respect. Isaiah 46:9 God is the ONLY true God. No one else is like Him. John 1:3 Jesus is God and Jesus is the Son of God. We understand this from John who writes that all things were made by Him (the Lord Jesus Christ) because He IS God. He, therefore, deserves our respect. John 3:16 God loves us so much He sent His Son to die for us. Sometimes we take that love for granted rather than recognizing the magnitude of what He has done for us.

WISDOM
Knowing a books author doesnt mean one knows what the author says. Children must become familiar with Bible content, because this knowledge transforms into the source of godly wisdom in their lives. Joshua 1:9 God is willing to give us courage no matter where we are or what we are doing. He doesnt promise to give us easy lives, but He does promise to give us strength and courage when we face hard situations so that we have the wisdom to make the right choices. Psalm 119:105 Gods Word guides us moment by moment as we live our daily lives. Kids need to understand the importance of listening to what God says. Psalm 119:9 How can kids learn to make wise choices in their lives? By living according to Gods Word. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in God and dont depend on our own understanding. What great verses to teach our kids to trust in Gods wisdom. Ephesians 6:1 At this age, most of what children learn about God and the Bible comes from the adults in their lives. Children need to understand the wisdom of listening to and obeying their parents. (I tell kids that the Lord put this verse in the Bible just for them.)

DESTINY
The answer to the chaotic middle-school years is in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ through Him, young teenagers can understand their destiny. He oers grace, love and forgiveness and a relationship and identity with Him that is beyond value. Psalm 31:14-15a God is our authority. We need to submit to Him. We can trust Him because all we do is in His hands. Romans 8:28 Yes, sometimes life is tough but God is sovereign and all things will work together for good. Romans 12:1 We are to oer our bodies as living sacrices everything we do and say should be glorifying to the Lord. Ephesians 2:10 We are Gods poetry (the word workmanship comes from the Greek word poema). Talk about a condence builder! Philippians 4:8-9 We live in a world that is constantly bombarding us with youre not smart, healthy, skinny, beautiful enough messages. Young teenagers must focus on the good things listed here.

GRACE
Helping our children understand and respond in awe to Gods priceless gift of grace will enable them to grow into adults who reect Christ in the many nuances of life. God shows mercy and grace in His relationship to us; we need to show mercy and grace in our relationships with others. John 1:14 The Lord Jesus Christ is the personication of grace and truth. Romans 6:23 God, in His innite grace, has given us the ultimate gift eternal life . Ephesians 2:4-5 God has so much love for us that He saved us. Because of His grace given to us, we have the ability to reach out to others. Ephesians 2:8-9 We cannot save ourselves. God saved us by His grace this was His gift to us. Our responsibility is to tell others of His gift. Ephesians 4:32 God has given us the ultimate gift of grace. We, in turn, need to show grace to others by treating them kindly and by forgiving them.

PERSPECTIVE
We need to teach our teenagers that biblical perspective is based on the sovereignty of God. Psalm 119:11 Our perspective should be one of desiring spiritual truth. Romans 12:2 Our perspective should be one of conforming to Gods Word. 1 Timothy 4:12 Teenagers can be an example for the adults. Encourage them to serve the Lord now not wait for the future. 2 Timothy 2:15 Bible study is a never-ending aspect of our lives. Encourage teenagers to learn all they can about the Bible and then continue learning. 2 Timothy 3:16 Our perspective should be one of studying Gods Word to discover the instructions He has for our lives.
