The Downeast Patrol Composite Squadron salutes 1st Lt Raymond Reckamp as he completes his journey. Ray passed away in January leaving a hole in the squadron that will be difficult to fill. He joined our squadron in 2002. In his earlier years he was a qualified CAP pilot. As our Communications Officer, Ray ensured we were up to date with well-running equipment and in compliance with regulations. As our Historian he began scanning hundreds of old photographs to save our heritage. He was also responsible for the sign we have greeting members and guests as they drive in to our squadron headquarters. USAF Veteran is an honorable title that helped create the uniqueness of 1st Lt Ray Reckamp. In all these activities Ray upheld our core values, exhibiting them in all aspects of his life. Civil Air Patrol and Amateur Radio were Rays passions during the last several years. He considered us family and, without hesitation, I can say he was a valuable member of ours. May your wings soar in the clearest of skies, 1st Lt Reckamp! Kristian Bearscove, Capt. ME038/CC

Commanders Corner
Welcome to 2012! With a new year comes a lot of work behind the scenes. All annual reports, inventories, and surveys have been completed and sent to Wing ahead of schedule! I wish to thank those staff officers who used their time to ensure we have carried out these mandates. Our squadron has already begun the year with a full schedule. Cadet orientation flights, a search and rescue exercise, our annual safety If January is any indication of the level of dedication our squadron members have, then I am very excited hard work! Everyone have a great 2012 and most importantly, STAY SAFE, Commanders orders! Respectfully, about what we will accomplish in 2012. Keep up the and CPR certifications, becoming CAP-pilot qualified, and enrolling in online courses. professional development
