Health & Medical related expenses incurred by Spouse and each Dependent Child insured under the policy can also be claimed. Please make sure to keep your bills in a safe place to be submitted for reimbursement at the end of the 3-year policy term. Deductible of Rs. 100 applies per Universal Health Benefit claim. The Guaranteed Insurability Health Benefit applies to everyone under the plan and guarantees that everyone can remain insured for a very long time (up to age 80 for the Principal & Spouse and up to age 25 for Dependent Child). When your policy expires at the end of its 3-year policy term, you will have the option to purchase a new 3-year BSLI Universal Health Plan covering the same insured lives each for their same number of Health Insurance Units.

Should the Principal die, the Spouse will automatically become the Principal insured and the policy will continue uninterrupted.

Similarly, if the Guaranteed Insurability Health Benefit can be exercised for the Spouse but not for the Principal (now aged beyond 78), then the Spouse can exercise the Guaranteed Insurability Health Benefit alone and become the Principal insured on the new BSLI Universal Health Plan. Case Principal insured is a gentleman aged 42 who purchased 3 Health Insurance Units. The sample case assumes the Guaranteed Insurability Health Benefit is exercised twice (at age 45 and again at age 48) for a total of 9 years of insurance. Note that this person can exercise the Guaranteed Insurability Health Benefit 12 times (age 45, 48, 51, 78) for a total of 39 years (3 + 12 x 3) till age 80! Every time the Guaranteed Insurability Health Benefit is exercised, the number of Health Insurance Units is automatically increased by 0.6 units (20% of the initial 3 units) irrespective of the current health status of the Principal insured or past claims. We will send you a cheque for any excess benefit amount payable under your policy over the amount we paid

directly to the hospital. Alternatively, you can pay all hospitalisation bills directly and submit the claims documents post discharge. Once we approve of the claim, a cheque will be sent to you for the benefit amount payable under your policy. For treatment in non-network hospitals, you will need to settle the bills directly and submit the claims documents post discharge. you can submit your bills for reimbursement against any carried forward Universal Health Benefit still unclaimed on a quarterly basis. The minimum amount for reimbursement is Rs. 2,500 and a Deductible of Rs. 100 applies per Universal Health Benefit claim. you must submit bills for Medical & Health related expenses for reimbursement. The only exception is in case the Principal insured (or covered Spouse / Dependent Child) suffers a terminal illness or condition. In such a case, any unclaimed Universal Health Benefit will be immediately payable without the submission of bills. This is to ensure you are not burdened with medical expenses in times of crisis. The unclaimed amount is paid once we receive evidence satisfactory to us that the life insured is suffering from a terminal illness or condition resulting in life expectancy of one year or less. The Guaranteed Insurability Health Benefit can only be exercised if the Principal and / or Spouse is 78 years of age or younger. If the Principal cannot exercise the benefit (beyond age 78) but the Spouse can, then the new plan will be issued only on the Spouse as the Principal insured (using the Spousal Continuation Health Benefit). If the Principal can exercise the benefit but not the Spouse, then the new plan will be issued on the Principal insured only. Means a period of a full 24 hours during a period of confinement. The first Day of confinement shall commence at the time of admission to the Hospital / ICU and each subsequent Day of confinement shall commence 24 hours after the commencement of the previous Day of confinement.
