LESSON PLAN

Course: Writing Teacher: Priscilla Agna Ekawati Level: Junior school students grade VII Objective of the lesson: 1. Given puzzled pictures, the students will be able to describe the pet correctly. 2. Given a descriptive text in a form of a poster, the students will be able to write a descriptive text correctly. Materials:

List of questions Puzzled pictures Poster Explanation about whole structure of procedure text

Allocated time: 10 minutes

Teaching procedures: Teacher Greet the students. Ask the students some questions about their favorite pet. Then, show some puzzled Pre-Teaching pictures and ask them to guess. (Attachment 1.List of questions & Puzzled pictures p.3) Respond to the teachers questions. 2 Students Greet the teacher. 1 Time

Tell a short story about a missing dog by showing a poster on the board. Whileteaching (Attachment 2. Poster p.4) Explain descriptive text by referring to the previous text. (Attachment 3. Descriptive text p.5) Distribute pet pictures and ask the students to make a poster in pairs. Post-Teaching (Attachment 4. Pets pictures p.7) Greet the students. Greet the teacher. 1 Make a poster. 1 Pay attention to the explanation. 4 Pay attention to the teachers story. 2

Attachment 3 Descriptive texts We use descriptive text to describe something. A descriptive text has two main parts: 1. Identification 2. Description

Identification I want to tell you about my dog, his name is Chocho. Description He is a Chihuahua breed. He is five months old. He is small and thin. He wears a red collar on his neck and a green hat on his head. He has brown hair with white markings.

Identification This part identifies a particular thing to be described and usually answer the following questions: What is the topic of the text? What is the text about?

Description This part describes the parts and characteristics. In the text above, it describes: The part of the body hair, markings Thing collar, hat The characteristics color (green, red)

Language focus Nouns : the subject

Ex: collar, hair markings, hat, dog Adjectives : describe the characteristic

Ex: white, brown, small, thin Noun phrases : combination of adjectives and noun

Ex: small body, brown hair, white markings, green hat Verbs : usually used is HAVE (have, has) and TO BE (is, am, are)

Ex: have, has, is, am, and are

Simple present SUBJECT I It / she/ he You / we / they TO BE Am Is Are HAVE Have Has Have
