BREAKER ALGORITHMS FOR CMMS SYSTEM

When the CMMS flags a circuit breaker that is in trouble, it should be reported with a priority number based on the following algorithms. ( If spec or standard values are not available due to equipment age or vendor no longer in business value from previous test /historical records should be used as reference) Timing test If the test results meet specs, assigned value is If the test results are above or below specs by 5%, assign a value of 5 If the test results are above or below spec by 10% Assign a value of Ductor test If test results meet specs, assign a value of If test results are above specs by 10%, assigned value is If test results are above specs by 20%, assigned value is If test results are above specs by 30%, assigned value is Doble test If test results meet specs, assign a value of If test results are above specs by 10%, assigned value is If test results are above specs by 20%, assigned value is If test results are above specs by 30%, assigned value is Megger test If test results meet specs, assign a value of If test results are below specs by 10%, assigned value is 0 3 0 3 5 10 0 3 5 10 10 0

If test results are below specs by 20%, assigned value is If test results are below specs by 30%, assigned value is Dielectric test If test results meet specs, assign a value of If test results deviate from spec limit by 10%, assigned value is If test results deviate from spec limit by 20%, assigned value is If test results deviate from spec limit by 30%, assigned value is DC Trip Current If trip current meet specs, assign a value of If trip current is above specs by 5%, assigned value is If trip current is above specs by 10%, assigned value is Close Current If close current meets specs, assign a value of 0

If close current is above specs by 5%, assigned value is If close current is above specs by 10%, assigned value is Cost If CM cost is greater than 1.2 times the cost of average breakers of same class in previous 6 month period, assigned value is If CM cost is greater than 2 times the cost of average breakers of same class in previous 6 month period, assigned value is If CM cost is greater than 3 times the cost of average

breakers of same class in previous 6 month period or greater than $10,000, assigned value is 10

Load current/Fault current If cumulative current interruption is at 80% of rated value, assigned value is If cumulative current interruption is at 100% of rated value, assigned value is 7 10

Inspections (This assumes that weekly inspections and diagnostic test results are logged into a centralized database) If the number of alarms within a period of one month is greater than 2, assigned value is If the number of trouble calls within a period of one month is greater than 3, assigned value is 7 10

Leaks If SF-6 gas added per month is>10 lbs, assigned value is If SF-6 gas added per month is> 20 lbs, assigned value is If pump or compressors operating time is 1.5 times normal, assigned value is If pump or compressors operating time is 3 times assigned value is 10 5 10 5 normal,

Non-Fault Trips/ misoperations

If the number of non-fault trips in the past six month period is zero, assign a value of If the number of non-fault trips in the past six month period is one, assign a value of If the number of non-fault trips in the past six month period is > than one, assign a value of

0 5 10

For condition assessment of circuit breaker add above numbers from algorithms and multiply by a factor of X. (X = Criticality factor, range (1-100)). Criticality factor takes into account importance of location , redundancy, financial impact, impact on customers, legal mandates, etc.
