Text ANDRS RO EM ER

PR O FILE
Robert D. Cooter, the UC Berkeley-based Guggenheim Award and Max Planck Research Prize recipient, has called Andrs Roemer one of the most fascinating public intellectuals in the worldwho combines analytical skills, creative abilities, leadership, and management capacities in a sui generis personality of remarkable intelligence and judgment. A creative at heart, of whom Dr. Clotaire Rapaille once said, I truly believe Dr. Roemer is a sleeping genius that needs to be awakened. I know that he has incredible potential to resonate with a global world of cultures, his lifelong passion has been learning: since grade school, he has consistently placed at the top of his class. Dr. Roemer graduated Summa Cum Laude from simultaneous B.A.s in Law and Economics at two of Mexicos most prestigious institutions of higher education, the U.N.A.M. and the I.T.A.M. In addition, he holds a Masters Degreeand is a recipient of the prestigious Don K. Price Award for Academic Distinction, a recognition bestowed on the first in the class; he is, as of yet, the only graduate from Latin America to have achieved thisat Harvards John F. Kennedy School of Government, as well as a record-breakingly swift, award-winning Ph.D., Summa Cum Laude, in Public Policy, specializing in Evolutionary Psychology, Cultural Policies, and Behavioral Economics, from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a Harvard, Fulbright, and Ford scholar. In 2006, Microsoft Inc. designated a special award in Dr. Roemers name, the Andrs Roemer Prize for the Development of Law and Economics, Distinction in the Service of the Academic Community. It has been awarded since then in Barcelona, Caracas, San Salvador, Bogot, Mxico City, and Brasilia. Dr. Roemer is keenly interested in spreading knowledge and scientific thought as a basis for social development, and recently received an award from the hands of Mexicos Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, Mario Molina, for his contribution to the spread of knowledge and the sciences. As a well-known public personality and producer, he has created over 1,000 television programs. He has also published and edited over 18 books, including various plays, which have been award recipients (The Other Einstein won the National Theatre Journalists Award for Play of the Year) and been staged in Mexico, Spain, and South America. He has been a Principal for Latin America at Booz Allen and Hamilton, serving as consultant and advisor for many key Latin American presidents and CEOs, developing business and fiscal strategies for both the private and public sectors. Nowadays Dr. Roemer is the founder and curator of the Ciudad de las Ideas Festival, (City of Ideas Festival) a yearly celebration of brilliant thinkers. Dr. Roemer is currently based in Berkeley, California, and in Mexico City.
